God Sven is a Beast - Anchor - 2026.c6w2d6

Friday - 30 January 2026
Workout: Conditioning + calves, 1310-1340 (30 minutes)

Standing calf raise - BW - 3 minutes
Reps: 113

Tabata burpee - 8x(20 on/10 off)
Reps: 8x5 (40 total)

EMOM - 15 minutes
Cluster - 115 lbs - 3

I’ve got a case of the Fridays or something, because that was unnecessarily tough. (Even so, I’m feeling pretty good now that it’s done.)

There’s some tightness (?) in my right quad and up into my right hip, which is odd. I became aware as the EMOM fatigue started to build—maybe somewhere around Round 7 or 8—and once I became aware, I swear it got worse. Not sure what that’s about, but I’ll keep an eye on it regardless.

I’ve been doing OMAD this week, mostly because of schedule and partly because it’s a 5s week so I “can,” but I know that won’t work next week. (Maybe that’s contributing to my general sense of fatigue, as well?) In any case, I’m noting that here so I don’t forget and try to play some kind of twisted hero next week.

Finally, my daughter has an atypical Friday night swim meet, so I may swap tomorrow’s post-dinner nothing for today’s post-dinner ride: We’ll have to see what time I’m able to eat and what I have time for afterwards.

Edit: Ended up packing my dinner (random leftovers cleanup) and eating at the pool—not my preferred way to roll these days, but better than waiting and just ending up hangry, I think. Anyway, no post-dinner ride tonight, but the goal is 6 out of 7 nights a week, so I should be able to close it out tomorrow.

Saturday - 31 January 2026
Workout: Easy conditioning, 1055-1120 (25 minutes)

3 rounds of:
Pull-up (strict, various grips) - BW - 5
Push-up - 10
Air squat - 15

Assault bike - 15 minutes

Normally that’d be it, but I owe myself that ride from yesterday. Current plans should allow it, and that’ll close out the week.

I love your accountability.

Hah! Thanks.

There was a time when I’d penalize myself for missing stuff or doing it out of order: Like this ride would go from 15 minutes yesterday to 25 minutes today because I’m doing it a day “late.” Luckily I’m not so broken as to force that kind of crap anymore, but I do have goals and I try to achieve them.

If I’m reading my log correctly, I haven’t had 320 on the bar since June of 2022—that doesn’t seem right, but whatever: It was a pretty decent set, even if not a PR. Rest of it was solid, too—the week is off to a good start!

Definitely creeping into PR territory with the press: I did 150x6 back in December of 2022. There might’ve been one more in the tank if I was really willing to fight it, but the 5 reps I did today were strong, even if the last one was slow. I should be able to do better in the second anchor.

And the rest of it was good again today, too. The deads were harder than I’d like to admit: All of the reps were strong, but the fatigue built up more quickly than I would’ve guessed.

Even so, it was another good day!

@BethB - You’re not kidding: All PRs are great PRs, but there’s something special about press. I think maybe because they’re the hardest to earn?

Certainly they feel that way for me, anyway.

That EMOM is still a butt-kicker, but the fatigue wasn’t noticeable until Round 11 or so today—I guess that’s some kind of progress (inasmuch as progress here matters, haha).

Also: How is it February already!?!

I crushed that workout!

Yes, I was probably hyped up on adrenaline and caffeine after another hell of a day, but…

I STILL crushed that workout!

Today was the first day where I felt like I could’ve just pulled the trigger and taken any one of those sets—squats and bench alike—for seemingly endless reps.

I’m not sure that my body actually would’ve been able to keep pace, but my mind wanted to just GO!

As it was, I was able to keep the goal the goal and reign it in, but it was an awesome day, start to finish!

Edit: It just occurred to me that although “the goal” has been rolling around in my head for the better part of a week, I haven’t actually written it down, here or anywhere else, so…

Although my working weights are creeping up to PR range for several (all?) of the lifts, I’ve obviously not been pushing any of the 3+ or 1-3+ sets beyond 5 reps in this cycle. And although I was originally thinking I’d cycle up in the next (and final) cycle of God Sven is a Beast, I’ve decided instead to keep my TMs the same and build toward the PR attempts in the final week of this template.

That’s the plan right now, anyway—we’ll see how it goes!
