Bench felt good: The jump from 200 and 225 felt heavier than the jump from 225 to 250. Top set felt easy, definitely more reps in the tank there. The assistance work was very blah today, mostly just punching the clock there, I think—the RDLs did kick my butt, though, so at least they didn’t disappoint.

Workout: Conditioning + calves, 1250-1335 (45 minutes)
Seated calf raise - 140 lbs - 3 minutes
Reps: 103
Tabata American KB swing - 24 kg - 8x(20 on/10 off)
Reps: 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10 (80 total)
AMRAP - 15 7 minutes
Sled push - 160 lbs + sled - 50 yards
Rounds: 5
EMOM - 10 minutes
Push press - 135 lbs - 5
Almost got it in! As it was, though, the driveway got too wet and I had to call it after 7 minutes.
I was glad to have made 5 trips, but that ate into the available time, so I truncated the push-press “substitute” to 10 rounds.
Rest of it was fine, but the tabata doesn’t get any easier (despite what I might have said previously!).
I intend to walk tonight, but it’ll come later than usual—it’s a busy week with kids’ swim meets and basketball games!

Meetings until 1800, straight to the pool for a swim meet, home and eating dinner by 2045, then straight into the walk—ugh!
Not sure if it was the long day or the 5 rounds with the sled for the first time in forever or what, but the walk itself was hard work tonight—double-ugh!

Maybe it’ll dry up later, maybe it won’t, but I didn’t have a choice today—was squeezing this in as it was.
Kicked my butt, too, which just reinforces my decision to respect the programmed deload next week: Feeling good yesterday, yes, but everything here today was an absolute struggle. Got through it all, but the level of effort was high, High, HIGH today.

I ate big tonight—and my mind wants more!—but I’m hoping that helps with recovery.
Unfortunately, my son sprained his ankle in his basketball game last night, so he’s out for two weeks—that’s a bummer, but better than a season-ending fracture or something.
In contrast, even though it’s early in the season, my daughter’s swimming relay qualified for regionals last night, and she’ll be trying to qualify for the individual 100-meter breaststroke tomorrow morning.
