SvenG Conquers Europe - summary
We conquered Delft.
We conquered The Hague.
We conquered Koblenz.
We conquered Bacharach.
We conquered Trier.
We conquered Paris.
We conquered airports, we conquered train stations, and we conquered bus stations.
We conquered sightseeing, we conquered shopping, and we conquered food—lots and lots of food.
Yep, it was an awesome trip, and I’m very thankful for the time with my family: My kids are troopers, that’s for sure!
Just a note about those Fourth of July pictures: Those were taken at Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, where a giant German national flag, the flags of the 16 German states, and the flag of the European Union are flying, with Old Glory itself waving right alongside the others. It’s displayed there as a symbol of support for the victims of the September 11 attacks, and there’s a plaque on the flag pole in their honor. That was really cool to see, particularly because we didn’t know it was there before we began exploring the area—and on July 4th no less!
We got home yesterday afternoon after about 19 hours of travel. It was a long day, to be sure, but, man, it does feel good to be home!
I also turned 45 yesterday, so that’s cool.
Anyway, I’m not sure what this week looks like, exactly, but I’m going to give myself until next Sunday to build up some momentum—the past three weeks were very abnormal and I’m still way out of kilter.
So let’s try this one again, folks…
My only goal for this week:
I know I’ll be playing catch-up at work, but it should not be as demanding as the week before we left for Europe. And, in reality, “Don’t do nothing” is a very low bar—last time, I consciously decided to give in to work demands, so this time I am consciously deciding NOT to given in to work demands. It’s as simple as that.
I’m 99% sure I’ll be starting 5/3/1 Building a Bigger Yoke next Sunday, and I even bought myself a neck harness as a birthday gift in preparation. I’ve never done direct neck training before, so I’m excited to see how it goes.
Well, that’s that. Nothing left but to get after it—whatever “it” turns out to be!
