Workout: Vacation day 2, stuff 2

a) Goblet squat - 20 kg - 20, 15, 10, 5 = 50 total
b) BPA - red - 15, 15, 10, 10 = 50 total
Time: 5:23

Vacationing with extended family is interesting: looks like I’m going to have lots of opportunities to run these little work snacks. Here I just ran a set of squats using the 20 kg KB followed by a set of BPAs, for 50 total reps each.

20-lbs DB work - 20, 15, 10, 5 reps
a) Arnold press
b) Hammer curl
c) OH tri ext

Took 30-second rests between rounds. Didn’t time it, but knocked out the reps in a little over 5 minutes, give or take.

Workout: Vacation day 3, stuff 1

a) KB swing - 20 kg - 5 rounds, 20 reps each, EMOM
b1) Goblet squat - 20 kg - 40, 30, 20, 10
b2) BPA - red - 20, 15, 10, 5

Just for the record, all of yesterday’s work was fasted. Not planned, just wasn’t hungry: had a big lasagna dinner on Saturday night, which was great (fuel!), but didn’t end up eating anything until “lunch” about 1500 yesterday afternoon. Gotta love beach time…

Mostly lower body work this morning, but threw in the BPAs just because. Ran squats and BPAs in 4 rounds with 60 seconds rest between rounds. Definitely not fasted today, had 6 eggs and 5 strips of turkey bacon after coffee this morning (which is my typical breakfast, +/- a few eggs and bacon strips).

Edit: Lamenting the inability to do chin-ups/pull-ups down here—was feeling good about the volume and how those were progressing over the past few weeks. Tried getting creative with some of the spots around this rental house, but so far I haven’t found anything that can bear my weight. Maybe I should just crank out more rows instead?

Okay, got those in again. As before, rows followed immediately by tri ext, no rest and immediately back to rows. Rinse and repeat.

That’s probably it for today. Sun is beating me up.

Wow! What is wrong with my body this morning?

I slept poorly and was up about an hour early—too much junk yesterday evening, gut was talking back—but… Wow!

Really struggled with thrusters: aiming for 20 reps in each round, barely got 20 in 3rd, couldn’t get more than 15 in 4th, and died just getting 10 in 5th. Pathetic.

Even the remaining circuit was tough, push-ups particularly so. Tried to go back-to-back through all four rounds, but had to take a 2-minute break between 3rd and 4th. Kinda fell across the finish line, but I did, in fact, finish.

We’re taking a bit of a road trip today, so I don’t know what other work I’ll get done. I’d like to do some more rows, and maybe some lunges or air squats or something; hopefully there’s time for that this afternoon. None of that should really take too long.

For now, I’m just going to struggle up the stairs and hydrate…

You’re right about that. Vacation is tough that way… Thankful for the change of pace, but feeling the effects of junk food.

Luckily it’s just dessert that’s been getting me. I haven’t fallen completely off the rails—breakfast, lunch, and dinner are quality foods in reasonable amounts, pretty much like at home.

Rough day, definitely off my game. But got some more work in. Maybe more to come yet this evening?

Fighting full-on vacation mode, and losing. Nothing more yesterday, and it was a mental battle just to start this one. But it’s in the books now.

Edit: I did get a really good pump from these today.

I’m having a blast, really love seeing my kiddos playing in the surf. It’s their first real time at the beach.

But vacationing with the in-laws is… Well, let’s just call it interesting. Large though it is, all 10 of us are in the same house—despite my grumbling, these little workouts are helping to keep me sane!
