Looking strong man. That ultra wide grip doesn’t eat your shoulders?
Nah i cant say i’ve ever had shoulder pain from benching, this has been the grip i’ve been using for a while so idk, its middle finger on the rings?
thanks for stopping in
Shit, I can’t even get my pinkies on the rings without mind numbing pain. Good luck with everything man, looks like you’re killin’ it.
Cool you got some vids up. Form looked solid

Thanks Whup, any advice on the squat? i feel like its not where it should be haha
hopefully i’ll have some deadlift vids today
Hey are you still trying to throw? I lost track little the past few months.
Your lifting numbers are looking solid. I wouldn’t worry much about your squat numbers just give it time. A high bar squat like your’s is stronger than you think.

I am, i’m just looking to pack on some muscle before the spring, and then practice all spring/summer before trying out again in the fall
thanks, how have things been going for you?
Deadlift
135x5
225x3
275x3
315x2
365x1
405x1
455x1*
*ground out, ugly as shit, and should have been for 2. 405 felt really easy so i wasnt worried, but this just blew. got a video of just this lift, and i wish i had one of the 405 because that was so much better. based on the vid i used like no leg drive, and it was just ugly. this is 20 lbs off my max, but i thought i shoulda had it for two going into the lift.
Front squats, SLDLs, and some snatch grip deads.
Glute Bridge-
135x10
185x10
235x3x10
My lockout is the weak part of my deadlift, and i feel i’m using my lower back instead of glutes because they’re weaker, added in some glute work today. rack pulls will probably also be added in to help out with my top end.
Bench
45x12
135x6
185x3
225x1
245x5
275x3
305x3 PR for a triple. missed rep #4
CG bench
255x1
270x1
285x1
300x1
315x1 PR
DB flat bench (deep)
100x3x4
supersetted with DB rows
100x2x10
100x12
Straight bar curls
75x10
95x8
75x10
disappointed with the reps for this cycle, will be taking the same weights again. back at college on friday.
weight was way down today 196… probably contributed to less than expected reps for bench.

I blew up a hamsting in August and didn’t walk right for a couple of months. I stopped lifting in September all together due to some mystery pains in my lower abs region. I lifted a little yesterday, I pulled 315 for a single just to see if one of my nuts would explode. I don’t think that weight was heavy enough to do the job. I’m going to keep adding reps onto to the 315 deadlift for the next few weeks if I feel no unusual pains.
I’m thinking you should gain about twenty pounds and walk on to the football team to see if you can get on the scout team. Your strength, and strength to come, plus more bw could give you a shot as an inside linebacker. Any interst in that?

That sucks best of luck getting back at it with a quick recovery
as far as football goes hat would be awesome, but the highschool i went to didnt have a football program (i know right??)so i dont have much experience with the game. i’ve played with freinds and found that to be awesome though. that could be a hell of a lot of fun

It doesn’t suck too much, I’ve come to accept the fact that I will always injure myself eventually, now that I am old. I probably deserve it for attempting to tackle more volume now than when I was 22.
No football at your school? Was it private? I hope there were girls there at least!!???
I don’t now if I said this in a previous post but if you can find a 10 pound plate at walmart with smooth round edges you need to powerthrow and half-turn that thing discus style.
It work like magic. Oh and make sure that you are releasing over the height of your eyes.
Al Oerter once said that he believed the world record in the discus would be set by someone who was 6’2". His reason being that a person at that height would be able to get great ring speed and not have to hold back or put the brakes on like a taller thrower. Of, he also had a freight train arm so I would bet that would help as well.
One more thing for now, historically East Germany dominated the discus on both the men’s and women’s sides. Among other things they performed hip snatches and heavy benches. If you are familiar with lars riedel and jurgen schult you know that these were not heavy guys, but they could powerthrow in the over 200’ range.

Haha yeah there were some girls, for whatever reason our town didnt have one, we just had a huge soccer program.
I think you have said that before, and it sounds like great advice i’ll give it a try in the spring when the ground thaws out a little bit more.
Thanks for those last two facts too, thats pretty inspirational and i’m excited to get back to throwing. i should probably start incorperating more explosive work into my program.
Incline Bench w/ med grip
45x10
95x5
135x5
185x5
205x3
235x6
Seated military press from pins, nose level
135x5
155x5
175x3
185x2
205x2
185x3
some DB raises…
The seated work was to hit the weakest part of my military press, and it was quite easy, definitely an exercise i’ll be adding in. will probably drop the level from cycle to cycle so that i get a greater ROM.
back at college, a much better gym haha
Nice job on the bench, RM.
And im likin the avatar.
Deadlift
125x5
205x5
285x3
365x1
405x3
Rack pulls, below knee cap.
225x5
315x3
405x2
455x0
405x2x3
315x10
Cardio.
Definitly done with coan/phillipi. low reps dont work for me, will be returning to 5/3/1 next week. may end up cycling in high rep rack pulls every other week, as opposed to pulling from the floor as well

Its been pretty frustrating to be honest. Ive thrown 40’ plenty of times in practice (with a stand) but I can only get 37’ in my meets. And on top of that my glide is only about 2’ further than my stand. Im thinkin about just doin shuffle, lol.
How about you? I never actually asked you how far you throw, or if you made it on the track team at Uconn.
And ive been meaning to ask you. My coach is about your age, graduated a few years ago. Dont wanna post his full name on here but his names Steve, he threw for Danbury and had a 52’ spin. Any chance you know who im talkin about?
