The Japanese dont hate us. They dont like being an occupied nation, but they have nothing personal against the US servicemen who live here. I Have known a few US that took the protest personally…but the Japanese have never meant it as a personal attack. I usually get smiles and waves even from the protesters.

Well, we (MacArthur as the SCAP) did re-write their constitution for them, including a section basically stating that Japan could no longer have a standing(the definition of which has been stretched) military due to their shenanigans in WWII. That might piss me off. Or maybe not. But really Japan has it made. Why should they spend all that $$ on a huge military if we are there to protect them?
