Beach Book Recommendations?

I’d look into some Elvis Cole or Jack Reacher stuff.

Some great recommendations on this thread.

Not fun…but fitting.

I’ll throw a shout out to Michael Crichton.

Jurassic Park, and The Lost World were good reads whilst on holiday.

Your going on vacation to a beach resort without your kids and you want some light reading?

I would suggest the cocktail menu. Preferably anything with a little umbrella in it.

And there’s always the Conan stories… The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian is the first compilation in a set of them.

Pretty easy reading.

I think the last time I actually did any reading on the beach, I was working my way through the James Bond novels.
I picked up something similar to this but I don’t think it was “the Coming of Conan the Cimmerian” it’s a volume after he was already King. I actually might stop it and find the one you mentioned to read first.

David Malouf wrote a short novel called Ransom about Priam’s trip to the Greek camp to recover Hector’s body from Achilles. I’ve never read something better balanced between Pynchon and Grisham in my life.

I’ll throw in annything by; James Lee Burke, CJ Box, or Bill Bryson.

He can multitask and do both.

all good authors but C.J. Box is my favorite of the 3. also check out James D. Doss.

A shorter Tom Clancy book I really liked was splinter cell. Some of his other stuff is a little to heavy for just light reading, but splinter cell wasn’t too long and an awesome book

Thanks for the recommendations. I am holding off on the Game of Thrones saga until he is finished writing it. I don’t want to get Robert Jordan-ed.
Well the Wheel of Time books are finished by Brandon Sanderson now, but I get your point.

If you like fantasy and you haven’t read any of Brandon Sanderson’s books then I would highly recommend them. The final empire is a great place to start, first book of the Mistborn trilogy.

did you all forget the trilogy that started with ‘Clan of the Cave Bear’?

(shakes head)

also… if you have not read ‘Lonesome Dove’ - then you need to. yes, need to~

I second this. Knocked out a couple of Jack Reacher books while I was at the beach last week. Easy to read. Nice short chapters and bursts. Very entertaining.
