What’s the best time to take BCAAs when you are using Surge as your post workout drink and creatine/BETA-7?
i like to take them through out the workout - check out Poliquin’s question of strength for jan (i think) he goes into detail on this if you are interested
Pre and during workout, followed by Surge post workout. I notice a greatly reduced occurrence of DOMS by supplementing this way.
I take BCAAs throughout the day…morning, lunch, pre workout, dinner…pretty much whenever…i think the more the better with BCAAs, you cant go wrong with them i beleive…
but thats just me and i had a freind give me to bottles of Biotest BCAAs unopened for free haha…bought em, never used em, i talked him into giving them to me haha…but ive definitely notcied the more i take of them, the better of a workout i get, and the better i feel throughout the day…
Thanks for the input
For limited use, pre-workout is ideal. Using anything both pre and during a workout is redundant and likely a waste.

I think thats complete BS
I agree with all of the above…
I can NEVER have enough BCAA’s!!
I take them immediately upon awakening, right before cardio, after cardio, between meals, on the way to the gym, during my workout, Take my Surge (YUM!!), then take some more BCAA’s when I get home.
My Biotest BCAA’s make a tremendous difference in my recovery, strength during my workouts. They help me prevent muscle catabolism during my extended cardio sessions and keeps me in a positive nitrogen balance to fuel my muscle growth!!
I take my bottle of Biotest BCAA’s wherever I go. I love how easy they are to swallow.
Come on guys. If your eating enough protein every day, your already getting all the BCAA’s you need. If you think you need more BCAA’s, have another piece of lean meat.
Protein = BCAA.
Its not a drug. Using more won’t give you better results if your already caped out.

I realize that BCAAs are essential amino acids, but have you actually tried using a BCAA supplement for any length of time?
I have and it makes a noticable difference regardless of my protein intake.

Since using BCAA’s regularly and always having a good whole food protein intake, I noticed a significant positive difference in regard to body composition, recovery, and workout endurance. I disagree with your assertion strongly.

Seconded. No amount of protein or MRPs provide quite the same quality recovery that BCAAs provide.
Alright say your eatting 320 grams of protein a day. That should (depending on type of food) have about 6000mg of isoluceine, 7200mg of Valine, and 11000mg of leucine.
That’s like 1/4 a bottle or 25-30 BCAA pills right there. Most big bodybuilders I’ve come to know joke about BCAA’s all the time becuase so many people think they “work”.

How many people are honestly eating 320 grams of whole food protein a day? Yes there are some, but many struggle to get that amount of protein in hence MRPs and BCAAs. I also know a few “big” bodybuilders who swear by them and apparently Charles Poliquin thinks pretty highly of them to, but maybe you are more qualified then him in this area?

Today’s tip comes from Charles Poliquin:
Inhale BCAAs
BCAAs have a host of research-supported benefits including preventing catabolism, stimulating anabolism, lowering DOMS, and providing endurance, energy, and an increased rate of recovery. Military personnel in many countries now receive BCAA solutions to prevent mental fatigue during maneuvers. Using a large amount of aminos is also very anabolic! My athletes take a ton.
so can this shit about BCAAs being useless finally end?? But, Im sure there will always be ignorant people
i think BCAA’s are most effective when you cut. any other times, pre/post workout is enough.
That’s funny because the serious bodybuilders and other athletes I know tend to regard BCAAs as a “must have” item.
Where do you think top bodybuilders, athletes, and trainers like Charles Poliquin get their checks? In one way or another, they are tied into the supplement business and its money cycle. Directly or indirectly, it effects their bottom line.

I wasn’t referring to athletes who are paid to promote products.
Besides, I know these people well enough that I wouldn’t get a sales pitch. Heck, I see which Biotest products they continually request for their own use.

That’s quite the conspiracy theory you have going there. Look I can understand where you are coming from- but the fact is not only do these coaches, trainers, bodybuilders, etc., recommend and even endorse the products, they also use them (as MB pointed out). If they didn’t use them I would agree with you. Like Tiger saying we should all buy Buicks. Like he drives a Buick. He may own one- but he doesn’t drive it.
