It’s not that the Giants didn’t WANT home field advantage, it’s that the cost would have been too great. MLB wouldn’t agree to let the game be played in SF and there was a good chance that it would have had to be played in Yankee Stadium (because Springsteen was playing at Shea). Win or lose, they would have had to fly back and play the Marlins on Tueday, because the TV networks wouldn’t let the game be pushed back to Wednesday. There was some discussion of sending a “B” team, but no one really liked that idea.
I hate to say this guys, but if the Braves lose in the first round it won’t matter anyway. Regardless, they beat the Braves without home field last year.
