Ah crap! I wear a pair of Merrill minimalist dress shoes. They are a soft leather with a Vibram sole. They’re not super dressy but quite appropriate for professional settings. I just went to the Merrill site to download a picture for you all to see and I find out they are discontinued. I shoulda bought two pairs.
This is the shoes.
I’m going to order another pair before they are completely unavailable. The $120 price tag is kind of tuff to swallow but it’s a lot better than $300 for those Oxfords.

I’ve got a pair of those on my feet right now! They look pretty smart, and you can definitely get away with wearing them in a smart casual setting, but I wouldn’t necessarily wear with a suit to work. Although I did get away with wearing them to my graduation at a VERY conservative British university. I wonder how many people noticed the yellow Vibram logo on the sole when I kneeled… ![]()
These Oxfords look like something I might get once I start working. I hate regular dress shoes with a passion and something like this would solve a lot of the issues I will eventually have with wearing a suit to work every day.

Yeah, I shouldn’t have compared them to Oxfords because they aren’t nice enough to wear with a suit. They are perfect for the casual attire I wear to work.

I wore them with a suit and a gown and passed the obligatory control by the college’s Head Porter
But definitely not a long-term solution. Super-comfortable, though. The most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn, in fact.
