Damn radio, ruining all the good songs.

I heard all the popular songs in the 70’s when they were brand new, thanks to having an older sister who played albums practically non-stop when she was home.
@Strangemeadow: Wait, you don’t like TOOL? (After reading your reply to Dr. Matt)
Hungry- It’s not that I don’t like Tool, I just don’t see what’s good about it. As a musician, it’s boring, as a listener, i don’t really feel any soul or groove with it. Now the concept/spatial impression/sound, ect of it, I get that, but in that regard just not very good, in my opinion. Maybe I just don’t get it. (By this I mean it’s dark, somber, grey, slightly detached miserable vibe).
BUT, that’s what is great about music, there is a lot to choose from.

don’t sweat it man,
Maynard is more into making wine in a small Arizona town than making music anymore.
This band said everything about me when I was in my late teens early 20’s, but when I hear them now I cringe and think “holy shit was I a fuckin’ douchebag”

He just released a disc recently with his solo band Puscifer.

Another offshoot thread. I’ll get it rollin’…
Love Hendrix, never want to hear it again, ever.
Deep Purple
AC/DC (ok, don’t love it, but don’t wanna hear it)
Aerosmith (old)

Who or what is it that you love; who or what is it that you never want to hear again; and if the two are exactly the same, I would be curious to see further explanation.
No implied obligation; no pressure; just curious if you would care to elucidate.
I am guessing he means the shit was over played… And I agree. I used to like Boston, but I can never ever hear them again because that shit was beat into the ground, hard. Same with Elton John, I used to like him, but fuckin’ A, he is so over played I cannot even stand to hear the first note of any song of his anymore.
Don’t agree with Hendrix though. Some songs are over played, but he has a lot of other shit that isn’t ever played. Axis: Bold as Love, still amazing.

The drummer from The Melvins played on that one.

I just started listening to the Melvins, great drummer!
Most bands from the seventies I don’t want to hear from much anymore. I don’t hate them, I just hate the overplayed ones. The B sides is where it’s at.
For example The Stones. Monkey Man and Can’t You Hear Me Knockin’(Mick Taylor was great) I like to hear now as much as when I first heard them. Can’t get no satisfaction is like nails on a chalkboard to me now.
I used to like very early U2, they disgust me now.

Those are two of the best Stones songs. I never really got the Stones either…
I wish there was a “like” button for your U2 comment

Totally agree… THE 2 best Stones songs.
I also like Rocks Off and Happy. But other than that, I’d be fine never hearing any other Stones’ song again.
I don’t think I could stop listening to a band I love. I might get tired of an album for awhile. When you completely forget about that album and put it in a few years later, it sounds just as good as it did the first listen.
Vivaldi Vivaldi's Four Seasons - Spring (Part 1) - YouTube
Nearly all of this suite was used so much on TV and radio to advertise banking, insurance or cars that I can’t associate it with anything else and any meaning or beauty it had is lost to me.
For me, it’s a lot of classic rock, at least what you hear getting played on the radio. Why do stations always seem to cycle through the same 3 or 4 songs per band?
Prime example: Pink Floyd. Every time I turn on the radio, within 15 minutes, a Floyd song will come on, but, at least 70% of the time it’s “Money.” When it’s not that, it has to be “Another Brick in the Wall.” It makes you wonder if that’s the only two tracks the station is able to play.
I used to love Led Zeppelin, but now I don’t. I think I heard every song they ever recorded at least 100 times between 1985 and 1995 and that took care of it for life.
