Bald eagle is to USA as beaver is to.... what?

So, that just makes you an old troll. That wins no sympathy from me.

Cupcake (notice capitalized name),
Thanks for pointing out that poll. I have travelled in Canada and have always been well received. I know that people like say (notice uncapitalized) are not the norm. Unfortunately for you guys, you have a french-canadian in charge of your government. That is an absolute guarantee that your government will run from any situation that requires an inch of backbone. I’m sorry. However, take solace in the fact that we just lived through eight years of extrememly poor government under billy boy. Had we taken a stand in 1998, this may not have been as nasty as it currently is.
Please also realize that my deragatory comments toward Canada are aimed at say and his little, smelly friends. Not at the good guys like you.
P.S. I hope you guys end up making at least a public utterance of support before this is over. It would help our relations in the long run.

As I am neither Canadian nor American I find all of this quite entertaining. I have worked with a lot of Americans and Canadians and found both to be quite affable and pleasant.

I dont know how true this is but I have heard that a lot of Americans, when backpacking around Europe, will stitch a Canadian flag on their backpacks because it makes life easier if people think they arent American.

This could be taken a number of ways. Maybe Americans are universally hated in Europe or Canadians arent important enough to have an opinion about.

I know this is a slight tangent but the thread seemed to be going in more of a CanadaVSAmerica knid of direction.

Just some observations from an outsider.

Just remember, the Stanley Cup lives in the U.S., not Canada. What happened guys? Forget how to play hockey?

Say, boy you’re good. I too, along with ol’ Cupcake reside in the great city of Calgary.

I don’t dislike you or hate you or anything of that nature, I am just tired of you upsetting everyone here. Haven’t you made your point already?

Yes I’m on the west coast in Victoria @ UVic & no I don’t wear hemp & I’m not a hippie. & Cretien being French-Canadian has nothing to do with Canada not getting involved in the ‘clone of the attack’. Our last great leader (Trudeau) was French-Canadian & Richard Nixon always referred to him as “that asshole”. Trudeau did things that were a lot worse than not support an attack on another country, like making Canada’s dollar worth ~US$1.26 in 1978.

Oh yeah, & Vancouver is going to bring back the Earl of Derby, Lord Stanley of Preston’s (Governor-General, 1888-1893) Cup back home this season & for a fewe more after that, so you americans (& Calgaryites) better enjoy it while you can.

  1. what in fuck's sake is 'earl of derby'.

  2. we're terrified shaking and trembling as you soeak already. God Save Us All.

diesel, he’s talking about hockey. He figures Vancouver will win the cup this year and on this point and this point alone, I’ll stand alongside Say.

Say, two words, buddy: B.C. Bud (three words, whatever). I think its safe to say that you being in the pot mecca of Canada means that you are a pothead. I don’t know anybody from BC that doesn’t smoke weed…and believe me, I know a bunch.

Say’s a dumb kid and does not represent the opinion of the majority of canadians on this forum or in this country. Last week 4000 people in Ottawa, on parliament hill protested Canada’s “official” decision to not support the U.S in Iraq. In addition the official oppossition to our current government, in the house of commons, has criticized the decision everyday in common’s debate. There is also a good arguement to be made that we are supporting the war in Iraq in some official capacity. Canada sent extra troops to Afganistan to free up more U.S troops for Iraq. We also have close to 50 Canadian military officers in Iraq, in combat, as part of an exchange program with the U.S military. This has caused a row at home as anti-war government officials want these officers pulled out. So far it has’nt happened. Many Canadians support the U.S’s efforts to remove Saddam from power. Yes the U.S propped him up in the first place, yes, U.S corporations sold him many of the products used in creating WMD’s , but that does not change the simple fact that he needs to go. Hopefully it will be done soon, with few more losses of coalition soldiers and Iraqi civilians. Oh, and as for bragging about the Stanley cup being in the U.S. That’s like bragging about the world series trophy being in Canada in 92/93 when the Jays won it. Big deal, how many Canadians were on the team, one. The stanley cup will always be canadian no matter who wins it.

To Magnus:

It’s nice to see some intelligent canadians posting instead of the same bullshit spouted out by Say.

It’s the job of the official opposition to criticize every decision the governing party makes. They also do that because that continentalist Stephen Harper might as well be a CIA agent they support the USA so much. Why did only 4000 people go to Parliament Hill to voice their opposition? 6000 in Victoria alone (1/2 the size of Ottawa) showed up to oppose the Iraq ataq, 60,000 in Toronto & Vancouver & 30,000 in Edmonton. Is 4000 people the majority of Canadians or what?

Pat, the stanely cup may have been one by a team in an american city, but that means shit. If you look at the stats over something like 60% of the players in the NHL are canadian(could be higher but i can;t remember) Detroit redwings, defending stanely cup champions, have a Canadian as their captain.(Steve Yzerman) Most players on their team are either canadian or european, so who gives a fuck if the team is in the US. I think they have 2 US players and their only job is to clean the toilets of the Canadian players after they take a nice long shit, thinking about all the olympic gold medals they have won, and how sweet it is to always beat the Americans at hockey. But hey it’s not like a country with a a much much smaller population dominates, while a country with such a large population can only produce 4 or 5 good players. Oh wait thats exactly the case.
Don’t get the Canadians started on hockey, you will lose.
 Groove

Ps, I actually do hate say, and wish he would be banned from posting here.

Magnus, Stephen Harper is set up to be Canada’s next Prime Minister. If he gets in office, then that means good things for Canada, as well as everybody. Canadian Alliance all the way.

Who gives a shit about hockey, and how many hockey players are canadian? Withought American Owners and Promoters your sport would be shit in the toilet. In my opinion hockey sucks, The most Boring sport to watch. Who wants to watch a game where the ending score could very likely be 0-0? I just got on this board and I allready dislike this “say” fellow.
I like the idea - Unided States = Good Guys - had. From now on I’ll refer to say in a non capitol fashion as a demonstration for the lack of respect I have for him.
I want to comment that my experiences with our fellow Canadians have been friendly in the past and I would in no way let his opinions influence that.
Hockey still sucks though.

Magnus don’t listen to chrismcl. Everyone who voted Alliance last time were just anti-Liberal. Stephen Harper is even more of a continentalist than Jean Cretien or Paul Martin! If David Orchard can get leadership of the Tories, he can take back Canada. Nobody my age knows how good it can be in this country because it’s been 20yrs since we had our last great leader. :frowning:

Cheese-Cracker said “In my opinion hockey sucks, the most boring sport to watch”.

  • Last time I sat in front of the tube to watch baseball(America’s Pastime), I thought I had just downed some melatonin. If Saddam Hussein was overheard saying the above mentioned quote, you can bet your stars and striped ass that we’d be over there right along side you guys. Never mix politics with hockey in Canada, unless your Don Cherry. Like Groove said, we won’t take it lightly. By the way, this post means no disrespect to the States in any way in case some of you read it that way.
