Okay, we have a Baddest Lifting Music post (it type of post never gets old) so I would like to know what programs are being used to download the music.
Personally, I have used Kaaza but removed it because of all the super annoying shareware that comes with it. Presently, I am using Morpheus with horrible results. It crashes and freezes my computer every ten minutes, and I have a newer computer. Plus Morpheus has a new update to download every other day, way too much.
So is there a better program or is everyone just putting up with this crap?
If you are Morpheus or Kazzaa or any peer-to-peer software. Make sure you are well stocked up on ad-ware, spy-ware detectors and anti-virus software. Ad-ware/Malware will do all sorts of things with your computer (besides slow it down). It can record and e-mail you credit card numbers, buying preferences etc. It can also “dial” a porno site if you have a modem and when it does the phone company will still demand the connect charge ($20 and up) no matter who made the call. Also, you will find alot of great software titles and when you try to run them, they are viruses. Things like this give a whole new meaning to free.
I personally use Safe Share. It costs about $15 per year, but it doesn’t have any spyware crap. It also doesn’t allow other users to upload stuff from your computer.
It’s a bitch to find anymore, but it comes without any of the adware/spyware bs and it has some pretty cool features that block a lot of RIAA bogus music files. Also includes a download accelerator.
ive been using DC++ at school with good results, but then again we have T3 connections, so pretty much anything goes fast. but it is pretty reliable and i havent had many problems since i have a firewall and good antivirus software. i didnt see any new spyware installed either (try adaware from lavasoft, its free just search it in google). the only problem is finding a decent hub to connect n share with.

I’ve used it for 2 months with no problems. [/quote]
that ruins the point of p2p clients. you download stuff, but you’re supposed to let people download from you (aka upload) so there will be lots of files around. i have a feeling that safe share is just like any p2p client except it automatically blocks out uploads
I personally use Kazaa lite. Basically a stripped down version of Kazaa. You can find old versions of Kazaa at www.oldversion.com. I just tried to jump on there site and could’nt, so I don’t know if its still up. Give it a shot and you might have better results.
Alright, I uninstalled morpheus and installed ares. Ares is really good so far it gives you the option of not installing spyware crap during the install and my computer has not crashed once yet. Life is good. Right now I am in the middle of a pumping iron download.
