Bad Ideas

Inspiring stuff.

My sincere condolences to the families and friends who lost loved ones during this brutal massacre. I have had the pleasure of briefly training with French Anti-Terrorist Units, I found them extremely professional and well trained. Hunt them down , my brothers, kill them all. Always remember, some child is waking up this morning without a mother or father, an uncle or aunt. ISIS is a cancerous filth, plant your battle standard in their fucking hearts.

Indeed. Vive la France!

Also, for those of you who have been following, after 5 years chasing it down and 2 years in the recruiting process, I finally have a conditional offer from the RCMP (Canada’s national police service). The offer is contingent on the rest of my security clearances coming back clean, which appears extremely likely at this point.

If all goes to plan, I leave for Depot (the academy) in 6 weeks. Training is 6 months full time. Assuming I am successful, I will then get posted out to wherever I end up. It’s all still completely surreal at this stage. I am excited, relieved, exhilarated and humbled, but all in a somewhat distant is-this-actually-happening kind of way. After almost 7 years of hard work, set backs, heart break and sacrifice it’s hard to believe.

Idaho, I know you had asked me to keep a log of my experiences in training so you could compare/contrast LE practices on either side of the border. Unfortunately any type of social media/blogging etc. concerning the specifics of training is not permitted. Sorry brother.

Anyway, just thought I’d share this here. This is the only online community I belong to, so cheers, brothers! I finally made it to the beginning of the beginning…

Congratulations Batman!

I don’t post, but I follow this thread along with a couple of others and have been sort of keeping track of what you were doing. I have a BIL in the Police here, so have seen the process and realise that they don’t seem to take applicants on the first (second, third…) time. Seems like they want to know that you really want to do it!

I think this thread was the first that I posted in. Was mildly inebriated and Robert A posted something that made me laugh out loud. Got a nice welcome, but i was away travelling for a while, and by the time I got back to it the topic was much darker {attacks on LEO) so left it.

Think I owe Idaho an apology for mis-crediting the Dune reference to Robert. (where is he?)

Good luck in the chosen career Batman.

Lewis.

A very ,very, sincere congratulations. I know you have worked long and hard for this opportunity. You will soon be member of one of the most historical and respected law enforcement agencies in the world. Good Job, my brother, good job. Just remember to check in every now and then, let me know you haven’t shot yourself in foot or fell down the dorm stairs:))

Excellent news, Batman. Stay out of trouble.

Thanks brother. Still definitely processing the news.

Training-wise I think I’ll run a Cooper’s test prep plan I got from Rob Shaul at LE Athlete. It’s 4x a week based on sprints, 800m timed intervals, push ups, sit ups and bench. I’ll add pull ups 2x a week as they aren’t included in the template.

I also think I’ll diet down a little. I expect the group runs and calesthenics will be easier at 205/210# than they will be at 220/225.

Thanks! I find that our good friend Robert A makes me laugh out loud on a regular basis, regardless of my sobriety or lack thereof. He is sorely missed.

Your kind words are appreciated.

Thanks. That is definitely the plan.

A woman EOD specialist sent me this link today, stating my martial arts training was bullshit compared to the method of “Natural Self Defense based on Cat’s Claws” . Being a smart ass bitch:)) she said working a heavy bag was for morons, now all she needed was cat’s claws. This simply has to go into the “Bad Ideas Thread”, hell, I don’t even know the legality of the device.

their marketing is going to lead women into a false sense of security
however people who use brass knuckles ,large rings, padlock, for marking their work would probably like this item

Mapwrap and others interested.

State DS got creative and took a large cargo container, cut one side off and then using T-walls, built a semi underground 4 lane firing range. 6 of us went over there and qualified this morning. Definitely something different, would really be good for rookies in pointing out the hazards of hallways and it certainly reminded you of the concussion and blast noise in a confined space. I have been shooting outside so much, it was awake up call for me. Since it was 18 degrees this morning and you could cut the pollution with a knife, I didn’t bitch:))

Been away for a while. Feels like a year. I don’t know if I should be happy or issue an apology that this thread is still active. I HAD no idea what I was doing. I just wanted to make fun of some folks.

Didn’t read every post I missed, but I need to at least address the following:

London,
Congratulations on the career change working so far.

batman,
Again congratulations are in order. It is the beginning, but it is something you have worked towards for a long, LONG time. I don’t know how deep you are into the process, but think of all you have already done, and fucking decide that the next hurdle doesn’t get to be the one that breaks you.

idaho,
I didn’t even check the “forum” email I set up as the end run around PM’s being shut down until yesterday. Thank you so much for your concern. I gather something happened with a missile, but I have to track the link down. I am legitimately happy you are still around and posting, and even more still around to BE posting.

Regards,

Robert A

This, this is awesome. I can see it falling under the weapon/not tool issue, as well as “switch blade” or “punch/push dagger” in a lot of legal codes. In a whole lot of places that is going to mean you are rolling dirty/going outlaw.

Looking over their literature, my thought was “Perhaps I have been overly optimistic about the concept of Universal Suffrage in the past.” That looks like a bulky way to make shallow wounds. Fucking awesome idea there. Able to chase away the poorly committed attacker, whom finger nails and sharp language might also work on, but unable to air hole someone whom I really need a piece of steel to deal with.

I like the E.O.D. tech’s humor. Serious note: I really like the Clinch Pick that DevilDogJim turned recommended years ago for that kind of close in, low profile, fuck off tool. I no longer carry mine because PA’s knife laws are interesting about tool vs weapon and “lawful use”( and even if self defense is recognized as a lawful use in court being in “court is beating the wrap, but not the ride”) Currently I use and ESEE Izula in a small horizontal belt sheath forward of my right hip. If the young lady actually wanted something as a fuck off tool either of those work nicely instead.

Regards,

Robert A

I am not sure how to express my opinion about such things. Except to say, that public executions are about making statements. They made one. To the kind of folks whom they appeal to this was an awesome, feel good, happy story. These individuals like the idea of dressing people up like road cones and sawing their heads off. They find justification in killing women and children. Individually. Wantonly. That is what speaks to them as a positive.

It speaks to me as well. But in a different sort of way. It lets me know that “dialogue” isn’t going to be helpful.

Regards,

Robert A

Welcome back, RobertA!! I hope you are well, and I hope you find that we kept this monster alive and well in your absence. Good to have you back, sir!

Yeah. I had NO fucking clue what I was starting. Glad to see you are still around. Is Tejas getting less of the hug a thug B.S. that I see all over?

Regards,

Robert A
