This is why I propose a $50/hour minimum wage here in the U.S. The only catch is that I have to market this proposal to the government as a subsidy for the mentally handicapped. I’d be honored to have you as the top name on my petition, Zeppelin. The following is the petition, just fill in the blanks with your name, and I’ll print it and bring it to Washington with me.
I, _________________, am mentally handicapped, but deserve $50/hour for scooping dog poop in my local park. If you are not a mean, mean person, you will make that the minimum wage.
You own me, Master,

COSTCO, a very liberal company, has grown about 40 PERCENT in the last few years
and their employees are paid an average of 20.86 AN HOUR.
How does happen in the worst economy of our lifetime?
Here’s their secret, and other companies better take note what they’re doing and follow their fucking
model if they wanna save this Country’s economy.
COSTCO gets it, while other struggling American companies are like…‘DUH, BDUH, BDUH What do we do,
what do we do??’

Nice, can’t disprove the facts so rely on juvenile humor related to the desiccated ideology you espouse.

They also don’t have a government that spends monumental amounts of money on retarded BS like ours does. Australia is like the US in the 50’s-70’s. Just give them some more time.

More of a question than anything, but why does just about every therealnews.com interviewee say, “you know,” constantly? In real life, when I hear someone use that phrase all the time, I start to believe I’m dealing with an idiot. It’s like they’re trying to camouflage their massive intellect by using the vernacular of your everyday, inbred street trash.
I’m not trying to disprove “the facts,” just trying to get your name on the top of my petition. Your name will be at the very top…just think, when I present my idea to Barack Obamaclaus, he’ll definitely see yours. You’ll be like a modern day John Hancock.

Pitttbulllllllll, you crazy guy, I’m the one making the presentation to Barack Obamaclaus. My username can’t be the top name on the petition! Thomas Jefferson wasn’t the first or biggest signature on the Declaration!
Wow! Double your minimum wage? And no negative economic consequences? That’s amazing!
Oh wait, Americans have >30% more purchasing power than Aussies…
Oops.
But hey, at least a kilo of oranges are a good 40 cents cheaper there…
That’s… something.

I assume you won’t be contributing to society by signing my petition…

Accusing someone of camouflaging their massive intellect? Sounds like you’re jealous because you fail to camouflage your “inbred street trash” dialect with “massive intellect”.

Sorry pal, I’m not even a U.S. citizen.
It’s called a REREDISTRIBUTION and yes it will have a negative effect on the people riding their employees like ponies . If you need employees you should be able to fund a acceptable standard of living. The Federal Government should have to subsidize no employer’s employees

I did not see any adjustment for currency standards
I just finished watching the video, and fucking Hell if that wasn’t the most ignorant 8 minutes of nonsense I’ve ever heard.
“It’s true that the Australian cost of living is slightly higher than in the U.S.” << 1/3 higher is not a “slight” difference. If purchasing power dropped 30% in the U.S. tomorrow, you’d be crying “depression”.
“… but on the other hand you get more for your wages in Australia” << No you fucking don’t. That’s what a higher cost of living means, you asshat.
I just saw this now, but the price level in Australia is actually over 50% higher than in the U.S. Purchasing power parity - Wikipedia
And their median household income (PPP US$) is about $7,000 lower.
You really think the U.S. ought to emulate these guys?
Their unemployement rate is 5.7 . I should not subsidize Walmart’s employees . I already can not open a store and compete head to head because their dollar is worth a dollar after taxes and mine is worth seventy cents

What?
Everything there is in AUD, if that’s what you mean. You can change the default currency to USD, but it doesn’t change any of the percentage gaps.

No, you can’t compete with them because of all the bizarre regulations acting as barriers to entry for any potential competition.
I have watched the middle class vanish over 50 years , it is because of policy set by politicians that get their reelection funds from the wealthy , hence we have a lopsided playing field that benefits the extreme wealth
I think another phenomena is getting the poor to vote against their own self interest
