I truly appreciate the offer, and the support I know comes with it, but I’m going to pass. Todays worse than I’ve had in a while, but I have spent a long time using food and booze to handle my emotions. My ex did that all the time, and I picked up the habit. I need to put that vice behind me, never did me any good.

I genuinely value the sentiment behind it. Always feels good to know you have someone who’s got your back. Fortunate that we have some great people on these forums who can be that support.

You got it dude. Offer extends if there is a book you are eyeing or anything else I can do to help.

Thank you man. I appreciate it. I’ll be alright. Just the unholy trinity lining up of a suicide attempt by one of my sailors, a health issue found with my mother, and then a rather unpleasant meeting with some divorce attorneys, all happening in the span of like 2 hours after church. Just a lot hit me out of left field, and I’ve got it, but damn I wish I wasn’t dealing with any of it.

Edit: reading through this makes me wonder if I was a little cheap with my tithe… lol

I hope this was the good sort of rage that vigilantes use to fuel their crime fighting exploits.

lol, fairly accurate. Im sure a therapist would have a field day with this, but I always know that I’m feeling good when my aggression is high. Im not a hothead, I don’t just walk around losing it or anything like that, but when I’m walking around feeling that edge to my skin, that little pulse of electricity like I’d feel before stepping onto the wrestling mat, that’s when I know I’m doing well

Just caught up on a few weeks of your log. Have been busy and not keeping up here.
When did navy PRT switch to plank? It was max situps in 2 minutes up until i left. Plank is cool!

I think it was 2021 they made the switch. LCDR I actually knew from school did a big study showing that crunches were super highly dependent upon hip structure and torso length, wasnt a good objective gauge of core strength amongst different people.

Then again, IDK if I would call the PRT a good gauge of fitness overall anyway lol. But some neat trivia.

Neat trivia - Indeed it is!
Thanks for sharing.
3:00+ is a helluva plank.

Lol, I feel like it’s actually very doable, just very sucky. I don’t think it takes an insane amount of strength, you just have to be very willing to embrace the shakes and pain lol. Going head to head with some of my sailors definitely helped, my pride wouldn’t let me drop

Work for today: juggernautAI week 7 day 4

Superset:
Overhead DB ext: 75x13, 75x12, 75x12
Db curl: 25x13, 25x12, 25x12

Notes:
-still feeling like hell. Fever, sweats, coughing up a storm. Just wanted to do something, laying around won’t make me feel better. Been eating everything in sight, all clean foods but a lot of it. Food heals lol.

  • 135 felt like 225 on bench, but the weights still moved fine; just felt terrible.
  • I think I FINALLY figured out bent over rows lol. After years of not having the movement ever feel ā€œrightā€, a friend of mine and I were talking lifting, and they came up. He said not to think of barbell rows as a back builder, but treat it as a deadlift builder. Idk why, but that clicked. Ditched the belt, put my hands a little wide, and allowed for some more body English, and these felt great.
  • I totally get why BTN press used to be a go to bodybuilder move. Absolutely lights up my side and rear delts

Db row: 80x13, 80x14

Db lat raise; 25x14, 25x13,

Banded overhead ext: 15, 15

Db curl: 25x15, 25x13

Notes:

  • still feeling pretty sick. Part of that definitely due to lifestyle. Had a 3 day weekend, and normally I don’t even get a whole one, so I was not about to spend my time lounging around lol. Lots of social events, lots of fun; but definitely wore myself down. Debated skipping the lift, definitely feeling week. Compromised by starting with day 2 of this week, as it is a lighter upper body session as compared to a heavy squat day. Think I made the right call there, still having trouble holding a brace without coughing.
  • spoto press felt fine.
  • 93 and humid as hell, made for a fun workout.
  • slow and controlled reps on db row, good squeeze in my back.

Lot of replies and updates to follow
