Thanks!!! We are both very excited! Spent the weekend hiking Mt. Ranier, had a little A frame cabin in the middle of the forest, proposed fireside our last night in the Cabin. She loved the ring, big win since I kind of went into that one blind lol. Incredibly lucky guy, excited for our life moving forward. Sheās a hell of a gal, definitely swinging above my league here
@alex_uk @taylortooswift i could only tag 10 people in the above post, but it applies to yāall as well!
Don talk yourself down mate, you are one hell of geezer. You are lucky to have each other.
All good brother, happy for ya!
Iām so happy for you both! Thanks for sharing it here. In todayās world, finding each other is HARD - I think, harder than ever before - so HUGE congratulations to you both.
I was travelling and not catching up here the last few days so Iām late to the party!

Conditioning: 2 mile walk
Notes:
- today felt rough. Between some pretty intense hiking, and then the past few days celebrating with far too much food and drink, I was feeling like a sloth walking into the gym. Woke up so bloated this morning that I told my gal āif youāll still marry me like this, I know youāre sticking around foreverā lol.
- only a few more days up in WA, then back to sea. Gonna move up here as soon as I can, hopefully thatās like 3 months, worst case scenario will be 6. Either way, Iāll spend most of it at sea, so my home base doesnāt really matter for that part lol.
- did my BBB sets beltless, because I feel like a belts not really necessary for me at this light of weight. Ironically, it actually made the sets significantly easier. I think the belt takes it out of me on higher reps.
- I used to use this row machine a lot years and years ago. Nice coming back to it, and pleasantly surprised to realize how much stronger I am than I used to be. I remember struggling to hang out 230 for a set of 8, now sets of 12 is just easy volume work.
- weird tension on this abduction machine, had to basically use the entire stack to feel any resistance.
So is your post-navy job figured out yet? Opportunities for you in pacNW? Or just stay at home dog dad for a while?
Nope, not a clue post navy. Trying to do a shore tour in PNW, which should be viable with colocation. Use that time to pick up a masters and apply for civilian jobs. If they canāt get me out to WA, then definitely a month or two of stay at home dog dad while I apply for jobs. Been smart with my savings so not really worried if thatās the case

Notes:
- 245 moved quick, surprised I failed 255. Hit a hard wall about 3-4 inches off the chest. Any tips from that feedback very much appreciated
- Close grip incline is something Iām still getting familiar with. Realizing if done right, itās almost like a JM press meets incline. Lot of tricep
- Accessories purposely light, giving myself room to grow.
- Changed programming, will discuss more later
My guess is that the 235 x 3, and maybe even the 225 x 3 wore you out. Long ago when I had a similar problem I was advised I was doing too much work near my top set.
Not that you have to do this math, but letās say your max single is around 255.
225 is already 88%. I think the general rule for warmups was something like āonly do doubles above 85, and only singles above 90%ā
225x2, 235x1, 245x1, and you probably would have had the 255.
Another couple minutes rest after 245 probably would have helped too. Like 7 minutes. Where it feels way too long.
The weight was too heavy. Youāll get it eventually.
