Athletes/Celebs You've Met

Met Peyton Manning at a Pacers game about 5 years ago. Really nice and approachable.

My brother is a record producer. One of his songs is currently #1 in Korea and will probably go to #1 in Japan as well. Does that count?

Let’s see…I walked past Natalie Portman in front of Madison Squard Garden. Didn’t “meet” her or say anything, but it was her, with her little elfin face.

I sold a Met-Rx bar to then-pro wrestler Perry Saturn when he came into a GNC I managed. He paid with his credit card, just one single Met-Rx bar, like $2.39 or whatever. Name on the card was “Perry Satullo” and he had all his piercings in.

I saw Meredith Baxter Berney in a seafood restaurant. My mom said “Don’t stare, she’s only eating dinner.” So I tried to ignore her. (Not hard to do. It was Meredith Baxter Berney.)

Got an autograph from Dorian Yates at the '98 Olympia when Ronnie won his first. He was already a smaller size than I expected him to be, but he’s got a super-solid handshake (no surprise).

I saw a Penn & Teller show at a college, and went to get Penn’s autograph afterwards. He was surrounded by college-age girls trying to get his signature, while I waited patiently an arm’s reach away. He made eye contact with me 4 times, and quickly looked away each time. I decided “F’ it.” And left.

My Frank Sepe story, a 3-part saga: The first time I met him, he came into my GNC (as referenced above) with some fitness bunny, picked up the current issue of MuscleMag Int’l, showed it to her and says “That’s me. On the cover.” She giggled, then he bought it and left.

The second time, I was waiting in line at a deli, and he comes in with Steve Weinberger. He ordered “16 ounces of turkey, and 16 ounces of roast beef.” Then he bought it and left.

The third time, I finally decided to get his autograph when I saw him at the '98 Olympia (as referenced above). I asked for an autograph for myself, so he signs one. Then I ask for one for my friend, and he gives me a pissy look, and sighs “Alright fine.”

 • Here ends my Frank Sepe story…for now??? -

Lastly, I have to mention LL Cool J. When I was working at a fitness equipment retail store, his trainer came in, and long story short, he ordered a sheeeet-load of equipment for his new home, in a nearby affluent neighborhood.

When our delivery guys get back, after being there for almost 2 hours, they tell us that instead of tipping them, he offered them a bottle of water. That’s it. These 2 guys unloaded and installed an elliptical machine, a treadmill, a bench, dumbbell racks with DBs from 5 to 120. And they can’t get a spare nickel? Boo on you, LL. Boo on you.

Mike Ruth former N.E. Patriot at a party.

Dave Tate at his seminar

Art McDermott teamed up with Charles Poliquin at PPC (Tates seminar at Art’s house)

Mike Dukakis fromer governor of MA. and ran for President in the 80’s at a fundraise at my friend’s house (dad was State Rep. at the time)

Ted Kennedy and his beautiful wife at a fundraiser, representing Plymouth County Sherrif’s Department, MAN his head is MUCH bigger in person.

Dwight Evans fmr Red Sox

Butch Hobbson fmr Red Sox

Highlights; Tate and McDermott

Claudia Schiffer and Anna Nicole Smith used to live in my building, but I never actually talked to them. And this was right before Schiffer became the #1 model in the world, so I didn’t know who she was, just that she was hot.

-Mike Tyson (posted a picture awhile ago), very nice
-Charles Barkley, very nice
-Doug Flutie (I went to his house and got to touch the Heisman. Boston College baby!) Nice guy, total gym rat
-Great Muta
-Mark Henry
-Perry Saturn
-One of the guys from Law&Order
-Umaga from WWE,got angry at me because I couldn’t remember his real name
-Rosey from WWE, we went to a bar with a bunch of other wrestlers
-Aaron Stevens(new guy on Smackdown!, I broke my ankle doing a sequence with him back when I was training at Kowalski’s)
-X-Pac
-Justin Credible
-Bas Rutten at a seminar

Ive met pretty much all of the Gracie boys during the 90’s, especially Helios kids.

Met Ed O’Neil(Al Bundy, from Married with Children). He is one bad ass mo fo. Trains MMA/BJJ as well.

Met Barry Sanders and most of the Detroit Lions throughout the years. Barry has some of the most impressive set of wheels ive ever seen. His calves look unreal.

I met Charles Rogers a few months ago. He was so freakishly small. I remember thinking how does this guy play pro ball? His arms and legs were puny. I could outwork at dude in the gym any day of the week. Its no suprise to me he hasn’t panned out in the NFL. He looks like he would struggle benching his own weight.

I helped Jimmy Walker find some cookies at Wal-Mart once. A couple years back, some pro bodybuilder came through our gym. I didn’t recognize him, but he was huge and cut, and throwing around the 150’s like they were covered in pink plastic. Also, when the WWE came through, HHH and some of the others came into Gold’s for a workout.

OK, now I’m really jelaous. damn
She was wearing a light blue v-neck angora sweater. Mmmm. Fuzzy.

A couple of years ago, in the middle of winter, I was at a club in Boston. My buddy was working the door. He asked me to watch it for him while he went inside to warm up. A couple of minutes later, an Escalade and a Jeep Grand Cherokee roll up. Some rather tall folks get out. The biggest walks up and asks me, “Will you watch my truck”, and hands me the keys. They group strolls into the club.

I turn to the guy next to me, “Who is that”.

“Paul Pierce”. I remembered that Pierce is a Celtic because he was stabbed while in a bar in Boston a couple years prior. The entourage made sense.

Ten minutes later, he and his entourage stroll out. I give him his keys, he hands me some bills and off they drive. A little while later my buddy comes out. He asks, “Anything happen?”

“Nope”, I reply.

When I got home later that night I checked my pocket. I had five twenty dollar bills that I didn’t have before Pierce rolled up.

Almost forgot. My brother produces Richard Simmons Serious Radio show. My brother is very much NOT gay, but he and Richard are very close (I mean they work together all the time). Anyway, this Christmas my family went to LA to visit my brother. During our trip, my brother took us over to Richard’s house.

My Mom, as most older ladies are, is a big fan. My dad and I were a little less excited. We got there and Richard answered the door. Man, he is EXACTLY how he is on TV, only funnier. The guy should be a comedian.
Richard Simmons has done comedy. This here is gold:

…Add Arnold Schwarzenegger & Alissa Milano to this list for people in the future I intend to meet.

I met Alyssa Milano on the set of “Charmed” last year. I was there visiting her screen double. She was somewhat curt - came on set for her scene and then afterwards after being introduced to me and a couple friends, just said “hey” and then bolted to her trailer. She didn’t seem to be enjoying herself very much, but was still extremely good looking (and short); hah!
I fucking hate you with a passion!!

I am jealous of two people now, the one that met Arnold and you for meeting Alyssa.

I’ll meet her… just a matter of time, I’m gonna have to get to California to meet both her an Arnold though.

I like this one!

Anybody ever met Stacey Dash or Halle Berry?

Played Halo 2 with Reggie Bush

Seriously the nicest and most humble guy I’ve ever met. He whooped our ass and just kind of blushed and shrugged it off. Didn’t talk shit and was hella quiet the whole time.

We went to the library on campus after 10 to pick up this chick, and the guy at the front desk carded him (on USC’s campus to enter the library after 10 you need student id).

Reggie didn’t go “I’m reggie bush motherfucker” or say “I"m number 5…”

He just said sorry, showed the guy his id and then walked in.

when girls recognized him and asked for autographs…he’d blush.

good guy

Kobe, it was for a commercial, dude is like a big kid. he was racing around the set on a golf cart having the time of his life.

Adam sandler, quiet almost stand off-ish guy. Real cool, just quiet.

Tia and Tamara (Sister sister twins) wayyyyy hotter in person. The only time I was ever nervous meeting someone.

Oh… and Hillary Duff

Not hot in person. That one was anti- climatic

Goal: Samuel L Jackson, Bill Clinton

thats awesome!

Nicest celebs I’ve met,Steve McQueen,Tom Platz,Grymko,Barbarian Bros.,Jessup Wilkozs ,Kal Szkalak ,Mike Mentzer various old race drivers,Jack Hewitt,Guitar players -Edge,Lonnie Mack. Not so Friendly,Big Louie,Barb Striesand, Jerks-Ball player Pete Rose,Tommy Helms,And Willie G.Davidson.

Joe Paterno: Most down to earth guy I’ve met. Took time to talk to me and he was literally swarmed with people to talk to.

KiJana Carter/OJ McDuffie: Both of these guys were at Penn State in 2005 for their Spring Game. I saw them at a local bar called “Cafe 210 West” the night before. After about 5 Long Island Iced Teas (hey they only cost $2 on friday nights there) I finally worked up the courage to approach KiJana. Just told him I much I looked up to him as a kid and that I was on my way out. He said “don’t leave yet,” turned to the waiter and instructed him to get me a drink. Since the teas were the nightly special, I asked for another. Kijana jumped in and said “no you don’t, order yourself a REAL drink.” I obliged and ordered a Double Stoli on the rocks. He then introduced me to McDuffie whereupon McDuffie offered me 5 shots for free. They both gave me an autograph and I attempted to walk home but I don’t remember what happened and I ended up with a Public Drunkeness citation. Awesome guys though!

I had an encounter with Evil Knievel for “a few hours” initially he was a jerk until he got to know me and then he was fairly cool, but his 30-ish trophy wife was smokin’.But Evil was not afraid to let you know who he was. I acted like I didn’t really care because his last big stunt was before I was born…BFD.

I competed against Mike Conley (1992 Olympic Triple Jump Champ) in the 200 meters and long jump, in high school. Had a couple conversations with him but didn’t know him that well. The guy had springs for legs.
I used to knock Scott Rolen (3rd base, St. Louis Cardinals)around on the basketball court when he was in high school. He was a really level-headed kid, and has remained that was through his pro career.
Met Joe Jacoby (part of the Redskins early 80’s “hogs”) at the base gym in Okinawa, Japan back in 1984. Really nice guy … and huge.
