Astounded by Most Recent Bloodwork. Help Interpreting?

Hey guys

Quick intro on some background info:

Age: 22 male

Height: 5ft 10

Waist: 31

Weight: 185lbs

Hair: legs, reasonably hairy chest (shave) and able to grow a decent stubble on face.

Storing fat: mainly lower abs (hip) and thighs.

Health conditions: All OK - not on any medication.

Diet: balanced diet with 4/5 litres of water a day, no smoking and rarely drink.

Training: 4x a week strength training (1reps: B-100kg, S-150kg, D:190kg) made very little progression over the past few years, nursing a knee injury as well at the moment. Been training for 4/5 years overall, follow a well structured program focusing around the compound movements.

Balls: slight ache very sporadically, maybe once a month?

Morning wood: not aggressive, sporadic and no random boners.

Symptoms: lack of motivation, energy, concentration/brain fog, work performance, ED, sex drive, performance in the bedroom, knee pain (isn’t healing - rehabbing but isn’t budging), depression (lack of enjoyment), slow progress in the gym.

Now comes to my results - I went to my GP around depressive symptoms and had some blood work done inc testosterone, a reading of 9.2 came back and the follow up test of 11.5. Following this I was pretty certain that my symptoms were due to my Low Testosterone levels. Fast forward 3 months - I’ve found a TRT specialist and had some additional work done and now everything has come back absolutely normal with a T reading of 17.5. I’m taken back by the nearly double increase in testosterone since my first blood work and I’ve not felt any difference in my symptoms at all. The same low t symptoms still sit with me - I.e lack of motivation, exhaustion, brain fog, finding it hard to concentrate, lack of sex drive, ED, depression etc yet my testosterone and other blood works seems to be in check? I’ve attached all of my blood work below for you guys but would really appreciate a bit of insight if possible.

The first two tests were done when I was dieting (not aggressive) - since then I’ve pretty much ramped up everything, calories and overall macros & had a 5 week vacation in between. I’ve also started supplementing zinc, mag, D3 and creatine. Apart from that everything has stayed the same with my gym, sleep etc.

What would you guys advise to do in this situation? FYI attached all of my blood work below.

Thanks for any help on this guys.
Ben

Perhaps you don’t consider your previous diet aggressive, however you body sees thing differently. It’s a good thing you tested when you did, I would avoid dieting for awhile and see how things improve.

You don’t starting feeling good in an instant once hormone are restored, give it some time before retesting. Shutting a young man’s HPTA down has consequences, we just don’t know what those consequences will be.

You may have been given a second chance.

@systemlord thanks for the response mate. I’ve had these symptoms for a while now though - what would you say would be worth exploring further? Maybe vitamin D deficiency or depression maybe?

Regardless of the change, your Test levels arent even in the top 50th percentile! You are still low and probably feel like shit. Tell your Dr to listen to your symptoms and stop focusing on ranges. Dont let him even talk to you about anti depressants or maoi inhibitors. You need to get your hormones in check first.

If he wont do it, then find someone who will. Alot of guys here use Defy Medical.

Yeah I’ve still got my consultation with the TRT specialist here in Australia - it definitely isn’t off the cards but I’m seeing what my options are given my latest results. Surely my T level readings aren’t really justifiable to consider TRT now seeing as I’m only 22?

I’m going to rule out any other possibilities given my pituitary function results show that I’m on the lower end of things - want to see if thryoid dysfunction is a contributing factor?

I’m also going to go back to eating at maint / slight surplus and get my blood work done in 4-6 weeks to see if they hold steady.

Any other recommendations?

I think these are all good ideas. Just be prepared to do battle with most Docs when it comes to getting your hormone profile at the optimum range
