Arrested for Videotaping the Police

Cops in general have abused any power they’ve been given to the point that I have little sympathy here. I am still against all of these cops driving around Houston in UNMARKED police cars that have no indication visible that they are even cops when they go to flash their lights at people. That should be against the law.

I keep a video camera on me and in some of these situations, video is the only thing keeping you from being screwed by some of those guys.
I have no objections to unmarked cars, and it is ridiculous to put all cops in one corrupt pot.

you have no idea how many cops up here in NY have pulled people over for speeding in the middle of the night and found drug runners. its not that uncommon. Also, most people fleeing the scene of a crime are more likely to speed and drive erraticly, so unmarked cars have even more of an advantage here, as a suspect is less likely to identify the officer’s car as a threat.

And screwed? Screwed for what? Unless you’re doing something wrong, if an officer pulls you over for “nothing” as you mentioned above, you won’t get a ticket. Just be polite and say yes sir!

What?

This douche bag opens his door and points a fucking gun at him. Fuck yes sir, no sir. I would have no sympathy if the cop was shot by a CHL holder.

I can’t LOL hard enough on this.

I went home for my friend’s wedding. My plates have expired tags because of “misplaced” tax payment forms. I get pulled over by the same shitface that’s pulled me over every tome I’ve been back in that town for the last two years, and a half-dozen times before I left. He tossed my car and told me to “get fucked, really, just go kill myself.”. He didn’t cte me for the tags, and never even looked like he grabbed his mic to call the stop in. Didn’t even ask for my license.

I’ve had a cop pull me over,'have my dive to a second location, then pull a gun from his ankle and press it against the back of my neck/head.

The former is routine, the latter an isolated event. I’ve never commited a crime, have never been tried or convicted. I did sleep with a cop-buddy’s wife though, so I deserve it, really.

You have what looks to be admiration for an institution which does nothing to curb it’s “unwanted” behaviors. I am certain more cops abuse the position than respect it. Whether that’s out of malice, or just burnout, I can’t judge.

Damn right they don’t, I’m still upset over the cop that shot that unarmed air force police officer. They had him on video shooting this kid at point blank range while the kid is unarmed and on the floor telling the cop that he is a military cop and he’s on his side. But I think he got suspended with pay for like a year then the charges were dismissed so I’m sure that officer learned his lesson. The shit they get away with is sickening.
Where did you find it?? It was ALL over the internet for a while then it disappeared. Figured the FBI put a gag on it or something crazy

Wow. I just watched this video. That was disturbing. The cop told him to get up and then shot him. He should be in jail.
Ya he must of had Angels watching him that day. Getting shot at point blank buy a cop is usually a pretty quick death sentence, they tend to aim for the center of the body.

you might not get a ticket, but you might get shot in the arm, back and leg like that MP did! Fuck that. What if you’re like Ryan Moats and you want to witness the last moments on earth of a beloved relative but the cop is intentionally detaining you to be a prick? Fuck that I say.

i saw that video a long time ago. what you guys left out was that the “military people” he was arresting were all PISS DRUNK. and if a cop tells you to stay down and you start getting up, he’s going to see it as a threat. Shooting him was def. over the top and he shouldnt have done it, but seriously dude, some people just need to shut up and listen sometime!

Yeah, but some never learn “to shut up and listen” and that becomes a problem if they get a badge and a gun.

I agree that some cops abuse their power, but def. not most. And i agree that an “Officer’s Word” over anything else in an event is such a bullshit excuse, but ive never seen a cop that acted out on video get let off.

We had a cop up here recently that brought a buddy to wal-mart to distract the old lady that checks your receipt as you leave so he could walk out with plasma TV’s. got a way with it for a year, But now, hes in jail for 10 years, probably has a nice boyfriend.

You guys just gotta keep in mind that cops are SUPPOSED to make you nervous/piss you off, because the average person is more likely to crumble under the pressure and admit that they have drugs in theircar/have had a couple beers/ etc.

He was telling him to get up and he was complying. He was also the passenger in the vehicle.

edited to be more polite.

And if I were being detained for any legit reason, I could understand pressure; I’m not a criminal. And I doubt X would mind getting pulled over if he had a busted taillight; getting harassed for being black at night is shit.

so you must have no problem with taping officers then? if they aren’t doing nothing wrong then what is the problem. That is the point of this thread, no?

For the record, that is why we now have a Patriot Act…because of the “well, if you have nothing to hide, why worry?!” crowd.

Aren’t you allowed to have shit like “PHYSICIAN” on your lic plate, X?
CapnYousef wrote:

?

I don’t know anyone with any of this on their car or their driver’s license unless it is a custom license plate that says “2 th Doc” on it.

Years ago I was driving home on the interstate with my young son and wife in the ca, after a family party in the adjoining state. A metallic-beige car with blackened windows eased up behind me, a bit too close for the highway speed we were traveling. I sped up a bit to keep a safe distance from this nuisance. He suddenly sped up to stay on my tail, and at that point I changed lanes so he could pass. Next thing I know, this asshole rides up beside me and keeps up with my speed. I look over and give an annoyed look, even though I can’t see the driver. He still kept up right beside me. Now I’m feeling unnerved. I mean his friggin’ windows were black and I couldn’t see the asshole driving. So I hit the gas, got away from him and changed lanes once again. Suddenly I saw a flashing light… from inside the asshole’s car!

So I pull over with him behind me. A trim, young black man in dark shades and State Trooper uniform comes up to my open window, politely introduces himself, and asks for my license and registration. I give them over to him and ask why he pulled me over. “You were changing lanes and driving recklessly”, he said. I must have had a look of shock on my face, and shot back, “I was driving that way to get away from you! I had no idea you were a cop and by the looks of your car, I assumed you were an idiot driver harassing me.”

He hands back my stuff, looks into the back seat at my sleeping son, his balloons, and my wife, then quickly said, “Drive safely… I gotta go get that speeding semi!”

This is all too common, except for him not giving you a ticket.

Isnt it strange how these stories of abuse of power fill up these threads every time.

Cops in my city routinely run lights. Theres a blind intersection I come to late at night where I come to a complete stop and ease out very slowly because twice I have exposed my broadside to a cop doing at least 40 in a 25 with no intention of stopping at the sign.

Another time I made a left turn on a green arrow and looked in my rear view mirror in time to see a cop pulling onto the shoulder to pass a car in front of him to run a red light and almost tag me in my right rear panel. Comes to a screeching halt and then tails me at three feet like I’m the asshole until he must have got some sense and backed off.

Moral of the story kids, “have a baby and drive really fast with it in the back seat to avoid tickets!”

Needless to say, I am not a fan of unmarked or obscurely marked police vehicles unless they are in the middle of a raid.

NO!

My wife just paid a $300 ticket she got going through NY State. Down a fucking mountain highway and gained some speed. Cop sitting at bottom hill snagged her. 2 kids in the van plus the infant screaming the whole time the cop was there. He made her sit for 20 minutes with the screaming baby before he came back with the ticket. Of course, we live 400 miles away so there was no chance in Hell of driving down there for ‘traffic court’.

Was this the NJ turnpike? That highway is full unmarked cars. Not the standard police issue Malibu’s either. I’ve seen them in all different models of SUVs and cars. You never know who’s a cop on that highway.
