If he was uncomfortable about being approached that way, I’d say Arnold let him off pretty easy. He’s lucky Arnold didn’t make him do squats. He’d never enter a gym again in his life. “look at you! you’re scrawny, you have no legs! Get to dat squat rack now! Put some muscle on those thighs!” I am sure he’s used to this type of guy at the gym and have no doubt he’s approached worse, so he doesn’t even waste his breath trying to give real advice.

I was thinking that same thing. I was actually kind of embaressed for the guy. It can’t be too bad, though, because I doubt most everyone watching Letterman realized he got mocked as well.
