I don’t think Loughner had coherent enough thoughts to think it that far through after looking at his videos. Don’t get me wrong, I would like to see him go to a penetentiary for multiple life terms.

You mean we told the truth and the voters agreed.
Everyone pays the the “center” in a national (and even most state-wide) general elections. Notice how last presidential election all the sudden the McCain stopped talking about boarder fences as soon as the general election began?

I think you underestimate how “liberal” the US is (in economic terms). Most Americans say they want smaller government, at the same time, most Americans throw a hissy-fit if you talk cutting social security, Medicare, Medicaid, or defense spending (you know, actually reduce the size and scope of government in a meaningful way). Most Americans also buy into Keynesian economic theory, which is why at local, state and national levels, almost every bond ever put before a voting population passes: most people believe that government spending stimulates the economy, and a pretty substantial minority really do believe that government should function as a job-creating entity, especially when the economy is isn’t doing well: screw the deficit, borrow money to fund public works projects and get people back to work.

Now those are not my positions, but as the economy continues to suck, they are becoming more mainstream. But you can’t continue to believe the bullshit about this country being a “center-right” nation: whatever that means.

We’re socially pretty liberal, and most people want the government out of their lives: until they need help, or depend on Medicare and Social Security. I’d say on the grand political spectrum that makes us pretty centrist.
There is ample of proof available , one only needs to look. The majority of Americans were against Obama-care, raising taxes, even on the rich (class warfare didn’t work), bigger government in general. Against stricter gun laws, and they are for tougher punishment on those who perpetrate crimes.

If that’s not right leaning then I don’t know what is. Obama is truly an anomaly and I’ve already stated why. He has little chance to win a second term if the republicans pick a decent candidate to run.

Who?

Who is “the Left?”

What person with a mainstream audience in the millions said these things?

And, which of these things that you’ve mentioned is comparable to constant attacks on the very legitimacy of our government, followed by vague innuendo about revolution?
Your government has no legitimacy.

Even if you accept that a constitution is binding which is not necessarily so, according to people who actually wrote it, 2/3 of what your federal government is doing is way beyond this document that was written in simple declarative sentences that have been twisted and perverted beyond the breaking point in the last 2 centuries.

The thing is though, the only thing giving them any authority is the very document they consistently wipe their asses with.

If you are a US legislator and do not stay within the bounds of the constitution you have sworn to uphold you are basically a thug with lots of guns.

But even if he kept a journal and specifically said Rush, Beck and Palin are my favorite political people and wanted him to do some despicable deed, that is still irrelevant because none of them have ever said such things.

This is just total lunacy from the left. But shouldn’t we expect this? They are famous for a double standard. So just watch whatever they do and expect that they will go off the wall when you do something similar. Who was it that painted Bush in the most horrible terms? And they did this with movies, TV shows, articles etc. Who was it that destroyed Palin with the same tools they did Bush? Right the left…so it makes sense that they don’t like the hyper criticism coming from the right. And trying to attach any blame whatsoever to the right for this madmans actions is just more hypocrisy from the left and should be expected.

It is not absurd at all. The Left is licking their chops at any opportunity, hoping that one day, one of these whack jobs will be a Fox News watcher, a Rush Limbaugh listener, or a Tea Party Member.

The demonization of this asshole is secondary to pinning this entire tragedy on a specific political affiliation. You had a stupid fucking Sheriff go on national television talking about how the rhetoric and incendiary speech has reached critical mass, when there is no evidence that any of such speech influenced his actions.

The sad thing is, who really gives a shit what political party he might have aligned himself with. Both sides have nutjobs, and both sides have mentally stable people.

Point taken, but it is still absurd. The sheriff talked about rhetoric, but didn’t mention anything about a party in particular. Maybe you guys aren’t reading this the same way I am, because if you were I just can’t see how you would agree that the whole democratic party is supporting someone who murdered 6 people, including a democrat rep. Really, he’s suggesting that he has the full support of the democratic party. That’s insane, right?

Very true statement…except that his lawyer is the one who know all this. It’s evident on the new MSNBC survey, asking if Sarah Palin was to blame. 60% say yes. Look out, they are coming for our speech now, and the left condone it.
I am surprised 40% of msnbc audience is smart enough not to blame her.
