I’m not getting anything, libido wise, from injections. I don’t want to discuss frequencies, etc., as i’ve tried them all. I do have shbg on the lower side (appx 20)
I am trying to get Jatenzo from Dr, but there’s been a lot of push back.
I am wondering if something like Androgel could work. It seems to mimic natural production best. More fluctuation in test levels could mean more libido.
I did start TRT years ago with axiron, and can’t recall i felt much, but was able to get into the 700TT range.
Assuming i can get up in range with androgel, isn’t there an argument to at least try it, switching over from shots? The half life is much shorter compared to shots, so greater fluctuation and more natural/mimicking natural production.
Doubt it. Sometimes libido issues are just not caused by low T. If testosterone is going to work, then it should work for a pretty large range of doses, frequencies, and compounds. The fine adjustments are mostly for guys that regularly feel even better (or worse) at a certain time pre or post injection and are looking for stability.
I guess this is my general feeling also. If it was hormonal then any method of providing the hormones would work. If they aren’t, maybe the issue is elsewhere?
Trial of Natesto or nasal gel equivalent from Empower. If these don’t do it for you (they most closely mimic diurnal variation without shutting down HPTA), you know true TRT is not your issue.
I really want to delve into the mind of a low libido to no libido person. Some of us are not wired as you would expect from the hormone panel that may be presented. Ive always been low T and my libido was always high. Higher T hasn’t made me any hornier than what I already am. But there are those that are affected by low or high hormone levels and balance. So my question is. Were you ever a horndog, and if you were, when did it stop? Let’s timeline this bitch or you may very well be barking up the wrong tree.
lots of things need to be right for results, estradiol needs to be right along with other factors. theres prolly still an article about all the factors involved in libido, check it out if you already have not, good luck!
@rodhotter Im not the OP. I personally dont think that the stars have to align for libido to be present. Im High T with uncontrolled E and low SHBG of 10. I wanna bang as often as possible, no different than when I was 23 and low T. My point being is that hormones never mattered. The appetite for sex has always been present. Now mechanical function is another because physically my body needs those things to be able to penetrate. Anyway, libido is tricky, and hormones are just part of it or perhaps doesnt make much difference if your brain is wired for sex.
As a teenager until about 20 or so, i was a horny kid.
I started noticing ED in my early 20s and not being super aroused. It just kinda went south from there, to basically nothing. I’m 43 now and have been trying to figure this out for ages. I can fake it with PDE5s.
Looking back into my teens to 20s, i did ecstasy a few times and smoked a ton of pot. Not sure that affected things, although i’m sure it could.
I"ve looked into thyroid too, which seems to be fine, and taking armour didn’t do much for libido.
Of note: i used to notice, when off TRT, after a night of drinking heavily, i was super aroused. LIke my hangover induced it.
Also, I did have one great day with wellbutrin, about 10 days in, that gave me mega libido. It was short lived, and i have since tried different doses in hopes of recreating the affect. Same thing with buspar. Also, prolactin always in range.
Were about the same age and I also partied with drugs in my 20s and 30s. Ecstasy, weed and blow were my go to’s, but Im not sure if that’s what may have caused your libido loss. But its definitely in your brain chemistry. Ill be honest, its not about Testosterone. Its about what your mind wants to focus on. Being married with a ration of monthly sex can induce the need to stare and lust for other pussy, and being single can crush it if your mind decides that you are better off with none of the problems that come with having a girlfriend. The need to hunt is what’s missing. I have a friend who is like this. If women approach him, he’s turned off. But if he decides to go after it, he begins to find everything and anything wrong with them. Its self defeating. So Im wondering if that’s something you’re experiencing.
No, bc it’s persisted thru a marriage, relationships, and being single.
I too believe it’s brain chemistry. But i haven’t ruled out TRT as that highly affects brain chemistry itself thru modulation of serotonin and dopamine.
lots of things effect our sex drive + the brain is said to be a big factor. being generally is surely involved. when i was fading in my 50’s + seen articles about TRT + noticed Dr Shippen an early pioneer now retired + only 70 miles away i got an appointment + his expertise made me a lot better. now 73 i use generic viagra for weekly fun as keeping the “tubes” clean is said to be good. i luckily found a local Dr to continue my TRT so i can continue a healthy life. i take supplements + read a lot to learn whats good or not. high E cancels your good T + only free T counts, read + learn + find a knowledgeable doc, good luck
my doc shippen started me with transdermal cream, it was ok but shots were just better + cheeper! twice weekly by me that helps keep estrogen lower as i do these days. generic test cypionate 10 ml vial about $50 + i only use .06 weekly for health
Have you considered the compounded 20% scrotal application cream?
Empower and a few other pharmacies make it. The application on the scrotum disproportionately converts Test to DHT because of the high presence of 5-a reductase enzymes, and DHT is thought to have a significant impact on libido.
My doctor switched from injections to the cream and is really liking it. Says he has less acne, E2 lower, and mentally/libido wise feels better.
I’m going to try it soon myself after I finish fine tuning a few other things.
