Jewbacca, you are a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.
Certain industries are making comebacks regionally, I have heard advertising is starting to hire again-don’t quote me on that, I can’t remember where I heard it. I know where I live the State bureaucracy is starting to level out job wise and might start to hire some back this year.
Anyone who takes economics knows that it is an ebb and flow game, sometimes you are up - sometimes down. We just came off one of the greatest bubble economies ever recorded, it couldn’t last forever. The great depression of the 1930s lasted economically about 4 years (Oct 1929-about 1934) when the new deal programs started to kick in. Crop failures, farm seizures and drought are the some of the main reasons the second half of the 1930s was so horrible. Since we do not have a famine or drought or any of the other problems seen in the 1930s at the moment, it is highly unlikely that the current economy will not see increase in the next two years. We are in a much different situation then we were in 1935.
Long story short- the economy is like a wave, sometimes it is up, sometimes it is down- but it never stays in one position too long.
I’m graduating in about 1 month and the job offers are finally rolling in. They want me to work for the Police Dept. here at my college, maybe I will since it’s cheap as balls and nothing really happens. The state police have been recruiting me since I turned 18 a few years back but I could give a fuck all about 'em and 1 county in a neighboring state. I’m applying to many different states to work for 5+ years then possibly bounce to an agency of my choice or go active-duty when Obama is finished. I’ll be cracking down on illegals like fucking sheep since they openly cross the borders and the border patrol now has a hiring freeze. Soon I’ll have my bulletproof vest, a take home car, a permit to carry a .556er and maybe even my CCP (why the fuck not?). If it’s not the CIA, I can tell you that these agencies won’t even bother no matter how great the school is.
If you really want Border Patrol, go with Arizona, Wyoming or Colorado Highway Patrol for now, they start them out at $60,000. Too far for my taste though…
I have been with the railroad for 8 yrs, if u can get your foot in anywhere in the us, jump on that!..its def not going anywhere, regardless of economy…warren buffet has got too much money riding on that…go to (bnsf.com)…look at careers…or there is border patrol in juarez or mex city, u can shoot them fools forever!!!

I don’t doubt the state bureacracy is hiring. Washington DC is booming, as well.
Indeed, right now there are now more people employed by the government than by industry — you know, the people that actually make stuff. Government creates no wealth, merely skims income from the productive segment of society by taxes and fees.
Government jobs are great for the worker — while they last. Problem is, the government eventually runs out of other people’s money, and the system collapses.
The productive are (smartly) leaving for countries like Poland that do not have excessive tax and regulation so they can keep the money they work and risk for. The USA lived off this “brain drain” of smart and productive citizens from other countries (generally Europe) since before WWII. The tide will now change, and they will leave for greener pastures.
Got a job as landscaping foreman for the company I worked with during my university years, graduating in June this year. Will earn about 5k a month after overtime so it’ll be nice until I can find a job in my field. Might have to move cities to get the job though.
