Anyone Taking Armour Thyroid? Feedback?

@enackers

1 ā€œgrainā€ of armour is 9mcg t3 and 38mcg t4.

Why they call that 60mg, I have no idea.

Is NP dessicated ? it’s good if it is but the dosing might be different due to its effectiveness. Your doc makes me mad for you. I would call office and tell them you want back on or to explain why.

It’s good he increased it your labs are showing a need. I bet you get closer to 4 and your symptoms will resolve.

If it’s synthetic be mad. I got stuck in synthetic for a month and hated my life. Felt like death again: depression fatigue. 4 grains didn’t do shit for me. F that shit.

It’s annoying as F. I agree.

I learned something New the other day. The ladies are big in thyroid like we are on trt. It effects them more. What they do is chew the tablet before swallowing it. Empty stomach no water nothing. It helps absorb it better and faster. Always wait an hour to eat. If you ate midday I’d wait 1-2 hours depending on meal. Try it. It works much better for me. More effective.

Thanks for the reply @enackers. NP is desicated like Armour is. I think the MGs, grain sizes, concentration of active T3 and T4 are also the same at 39mcg T4 and 9mcg T3 per grain (60mg).

I think he switched me due to cost. Armour is almost double the cost… But I’ve read some things about NP on stop the thyroid madness saying there was a recent change that are causing lots of problems.

I have the new script in hand and I think I’ll try it tomorrow. I still have 2 more refills of armour I could fall back on if this turns to shit. Was just curious if others have used NP and their recent experiences.

On the doctor front - after a good conversation with him about why I wanted to increase and showing him these labs, he was pretty cool about agreeing. I’ll see him again in 6 months unless something unforeseen happens with this new script. He also re-upped my test script for another 6 months (200mg a week, although I’m only taking 147mg a week split EOD) without any blood work at all.

Here’s hoping for the best. Thanks again.

I’ll give this a try, but the new NP smells awful…and I bet it tastes as bad too.

Very odd. How do you feel otherwise and how long have you been on these ?

I’ve been on Armour for close to a year.

Took my first dose of NP this morning. I feel pretty good actually. It’s probably negligible, but its a slightly higher dose than what I was taking in the morning before (1 grain now vs .75 grains before), so I’m sure that has something to do with it. I’ll take me second dose (1.5 grains) around 2pm today.

I’ll give the change a few weeks to see what happens. Thanks again @enackers!

Awesome Glad to hear it. If NP works for you Let ya know . I need To save money as well. 100$ a month is ludicrous.

I can report to having quite a bit of energy this afternoon… Bordering on that feeling of to much coffee. I never had this feeling on Armour. Seems strange I can feel this different in a slightly higher dose of a different brand.

It’s only day 1, but I’m encouraged. I have an injection tonight. I usually feel that about 12-16 hours post injection. We’ll see how tomorrow goes.

Awesome.

@roscoe88

Can you update us?

I was bumped up from 30mg armour a day to 60mg. Haven’t been retested yet but will likely increase more.

I can’t tell as I’ve really had any wow moments or feel much different than when FT3 was low normal.

Interesting that you don’t feel any difference… Curious to see your next labs…

@roscoe88 interested to hear your progress. I felt sorta the same way at 90mg. Not much if a noticeable difference.

I’ve been on 150mg a day now for almost 5 weeks. Definitely feeling better after my 2pm dose, afternoon energy is up… But I still think I need more. Doing blood work Wednesday I think and we’ll see.

After 30mg spilt daily, my numbers were just a tad over what I had prior to starting. So even bumping to 60mg I’m probably low normal.

There’s no wow moments. There are ā€œholy shit I’m not falling asleep midday. I feel normalā€ moments :slight_smile:

Hope you don’t mind me posting here @roscoe88… I got some early numbers from my thyroid blood work and wanted to share.

Look at these FT3 and FT4 numbers @enackers and @roscoe88 . The ones from August (left) are on 90mg of Armour Thyroid and from November (right) are on 150mg of NP Thyroid.

Side note - I’m not sure why my brand switched from Armour to NP, about to call to find out.

Unless my RT3 is much higher, I’m convinced NP Thyroid is crap, which aligns to things I’ve been reading.

Any thoughts?

I would think those numbers look good.

My dr. won’t even test FT3!! Just Total. Unbelievable. And when I asked him about it, the pushback I got was ridiculous.
