Anyone Gluten Sensitive?

70-90 range on Vit D? that seems a bit on the high end unless dealing with cancer or something. Not that it’s that far into the high end, but Mercola seems to recommend around 50-80 IIRC, higher end for those with CVD or cancer.

As far as your gluten test, what kind of test was it? IgG?

The test was titled "Wheat/Gluten Proteome Reactivity & Autoimmunity

It lists about 24 different Gluten derivatives including Wheat IgG. I was Out of Range on 12 of these and only Normal on 3. The rest were categorized as Equivocal. So it’s pretty bad. But good in the sense that he believes we have found the underlying issue. I will have to stay gluten free. Time will tell if this approach will stop all my symptoms. I look forward to seeing how well this diet works for me. He also recommended a new book titled “Wheat Belly” by William Davis, MD. I have purchased it and read through the first 2 chapters which basically gives you the history of wheat production. The amount of hybridization that has gone on with the wheat grain has had major implications on the general health of the population. It is the authors opinion that wheat is the major cause of obesity in the U.S. Even more so than sugar.

I have to get another blood test in 4 weeks to measure my Vitamin D level again. I don’t have a follow up with the doctor until December.

I’ve read the book. And while many on here will bash the book, some for good reasons, others not so much, I happen to like the book.

Full blown celiacs here. The answer is steak. Other acceptable answers include bacon, steak and bacon.

I was having some issues with my balance and after a few MRI"s they found lesions within my spinal cord and brain. I was diagnosed with MS. I absolutely refused to live my life on pharmaceuticals and sought out a Functional Medicine doctor. He explained to me that I won’t have to take drugs and that sometimes people who are gluten sensitive can have inflammation which can produce lesions like MS. I got back my blood results and I am gluten sensitive. I go back for a follow up this Tuesday. Obviously the first question I’d like answered is how we determine what truly is causing the lesions.

In any event, I was wondering how people who are gluten sensitive have adjusted to the diet and if they can recommend some suggestions on tasty gluten-free food choices.

Thanks very much!
Read Wheat Belly by Dr William Davis and check his blog wheatbellyblog.com for more info on this and some recipes. His recipe book is coming out in December by the way, but there are some posted on the blog.

The doctor I was seeing recommended this book and had a few copies in his waiting area. I bought one. Just started reading it. On the 3rd chapter. Very interesting thus far.

Good luck with the gluten free diet. Hope it helps your condition. As others have mentioned, I found paleo diet web sights helpful for finding gluten free meal ideas. Another web blog I enjoy reading is wheatbelly which is written by Dr. Davis and about the benefits of eating wheat free. He is often posting recipes.

I did recently cut out Whey protein and the results have been INCREDIBLE! No more bloating, no more stomach issues, no more gas and no more dominating the toilet 4 times before lunch lol.

Don’t tell them what you replaced it with, Greg. DON’T.DO.IT.
hahaha mostly with whole foods but I wont say what else lol
I’m not sure what he was alluding to but I wanted to add that i also had a minor issue with Whey protein. I switch to an Egg protein powder and no longer have those issues.

anybody heard of “NOW gluten digest”? i saw it at my health food store and was wondering if it would work for the social situations where you KNOW you will be eating some delicious pizza or pasta with friends and family.

I think that is meant more for cases where there could be traces of gluten in there and not for wolfing down a pizza.
