Anyone Ever Notice....

That politics really tears up America? We are really one nation divided. Can’t we just stop all the bickering, the fighting over if someone believes in God or not? Instead of having Democrats and Repulicans, can’t we just have America? Republicans will never beat out Democrats. Democrats will never beat out Republicans. There is, of course, always going to be sour apples, but we should just love our neighbor. No one is perfect.

Now, group hug!

haha

Free and vigorous debate and discussion are the foundation of a pluralist society. Just because we all don’t agree doesn’t mean we don’t respect and … ahem … love … each other.

Hugs,
Makkun

True… but lots of people get really nasty and mean when they disagree with a political party.

It’s been this way since Alexander Hamilton and the Federalist Papers. If you get caught up in it - it’ll cause ulcers. Take it for what it is - a free and open debate of ideas.

I like it. The debate makes things interesting.

I doubt I will ever agree with the loyal oppositon but I enjoy the arguments.

HouseofAtlas,

I like your “getting along” theme!!!

However, it’s far more satisfying to see if your ideas can stand up to serious scrutiny.

You wrote: “Republicans will never beat out Democrats.”

All three branches of the Federal Government in Republican hands.

“Democrats will never beat out Republicans.”

Not if they don’t do some serious soul searching.

Thanks!!!

P.S. I love my angry, leftist friends (Brother Elk, P.O.X., Al Durr, tme, ILOVEGEORGEWBUSH1 (rsu) …etc)

P.S.S. I love my not so angry leftist friends (Soco, veruvius, and Makkun).

P.S.S.S. I love my conservative friends (Hedo, BB, lothario, nephorm, Zeb, Thunder, etc…)

P.S.S.S.S. I love you, HouseofAtlas.

Debate, or difference of opinion is not a problem. The problem comes when people think they have to hate somebody for having an opinion different then their own.

This leads to a whole host of problems because the issues take a back seat to the attempt to destroy the other person.

People would have to be blind not to see what the extreme hate of Bush did, but conservatives are not free from blame here either, especially on a lot of talk radio. Then again I was listening to a liberal talk show host attempting to compare the speeches of Hitler to conservatives. (There are not that many liberal talk radio hosts, but they exist.)

You dayum, dirty bastard. You’re lucky you’re opinion is the same as mine on this account, else you’d be . . . well, disliked.

People still talk on the radio? I thought that was just politicomedy between the music.

I meant that there will always be people that are Democrats and there will always be people that are Republicans. In other words, when people debate, they try to push their beliefs on someone else or try to prove on side wrong. I dunno… some people don’t think much about debating while others get really hot headed about it…

Honestly, I enjoy a good debate. I consider it “fun” to discuss the issues. I think we all get carried away occasionally, but I can tell you that I have the utmost respect for the opposition.

In fact, there are really only one or two people on this entire forum who deal in hate and actually enjoy attacking others personally. They usually avoid this end of the forum.

I appreciate the sentiment of this thread, and I like the idea of a group hug, but if anyone grabs my ass, I’m gonna start my own country called NOASSGRABAVANIA.

I think it’s the P you’re supposed to repeat, not the S.
And so ends another one of my great contributions to this forum.
