Anyone Ever Applied for Survivor?

I’m considering very seriously applying for Survivor. I was interested as to whether or not anyone in “The Nation” had ever applied for and been interviewed for Survivor? What was your experience like?

I personally haven’t but one of my high school teachers a few years ago made it down to the final 30 people. She had to fly down to Cali 2-3 times for each cut. Was something like 500 to 150 to 30 and then the final 16 or so on the show. Go for it, what can it hurt.

I agree, I think I will apply. I just wish I knew what the producers were really looking for.

Whatever the produces are looking for, it definitely isn’t T-Men… they don’t want a bunch of physically impressive guys to run away with the competition and ruin it for the average joe types that the fans find so endearing.

Look at the kid who won the last show. He looks like a fat distance runner.

Odd people. Someone that will stir things up. I don’t think they want a typical human(whatever that means).

I know someone who sent in his video to apply for season 2 back in 2001. He’s from Viet Nam, and sent in a video of himself hunting squirrels with a slingshot. Needless to say, he didn’t make the cut, probably because he really did survive in a jungle, he can eat anything, and is a non-lethal booby-trap expert. And besides, his English is hard to understand.

I hunt squirrels in my backyard with my pellet gun, and I’ll eat just about anything, you think I can make the cut?

Yea, I’ve watched some of the videos that people have sent in and I hate the stupid goofy videos that people drum up. The producers probably want to learn about the person not see their acting (or lack there of) skills.

I don’t want to be on the show to become a millionaire, I don’t want to be on the show to be on TV or be famous. I want to be on that show to challenge myself and see exactly how far I can go and what I can endure. I want to experience life, go places, overcome fears, and meet the challenge head on.

It’d just be an awesome experience.

Become a parent or join the military.

I am a parent and I tried to join the military (pre-Iraq war) but they wouldn’t take me because I’d had ACL surgery a couple years earlier. Funny how after the war started they called me and told me they could work something out.

Hahahah…

Why not Amazing Race? Lots of traveling, challenges.

I want to do that one too. The only thing is that you have to be able to rely on your teammate.

The grave digger guy James from Survivor China was pretty T-man

Of course he got back stabbed and should have won.

But for the most part I think your right, you don’t want to seem to overqualified. They want the average audience member to feel like they are better than you. You know the whole “I could do that!”

Anyone got a good link for when they have casting calls for these shows? I’ve found some websites but am sure there is better.

I know James (and Beau from last season)
Both are from my area of the state.
James is currently a grave digger, but in yrs past he was abouncer @ a cpl bars in Lafayette. A few girls use to actualy call him “Big Swole”…James I can see why they picked for the show.He has always been a showman kind of; he’s a people person an would make friends w/ anybody.

Beau from last season is a puzzle to me; sure he’s a country boy an should have did better on survivor; but he is sort of a bar fly @ the same time. Ever notice his “Flo’z” hat he had on, that perhaps one the most whitetrash hole in the wall levee bars in the area.

if you just want to challenge yourself read up on like surviving on your own in the outdoors then take a trip and take nothing with you but like a knife and live in a jungle for a few weeks see how long you can make it.

I have a friend who works for CBS here in Columbia. Survivor holds auditions at the studio every year and he says it’s absolutely helarious the things these people with do!!!

Go for it. The worst thing that’s going to happen is they will tell you no.
