My faith
History books without the supernatural (your word) is written by victors
So, how much of what is written is really true
Do you think your faith is more right than someone elseās faith in a religion that may contradict your own?
Yes you can believe one religions truth claims are true and not others. That is a fallacious argument meant to say if x then also y and z.
Does that also apply to the bible?
Iām just trying to understand why you think the bible is right and not the others.
There is the claim for God, then the claim for a specific religion is separate from that initial claim.
The bible certainly isnāt preserved as there are different words in different versions etc so it canāt be inerrant. But most Christians donāt believe in biblical inerrancy and as such that isnāt part of their argument for Christianity as the correct religion.
Sorry Iām a little confused. Are you saying that most Christians know the bible has errors but donāt think it matters?
Thats possible
Yes I doā¦and that comes from faith
could i be in error in that beliefā¦its possible
Most Christians are not textual literalists in the way Muslims are. Most Christians see the bible as divinely inspired, not divine and perfect. Muslims see the Qurāan as the literal eternal speech of God, that can never be altered or distorted. It is a creedal matter that you must believe the Qurāan is eternal and uncreated to be a Muslim.
As far as I am aware no Christians ever believed that the bible is a book of science, for example early church fathers said that the earth being created in X time frame was not a literal statement, this shows how actual schoalrs read the bible versus how athetists think they do. Another example is in Islam there is qiyas or analogical reasoning etc. So the largest school in Sunni Islam the Asharis say when it says the Hand of Allah it means power of God etc not a literal hand. The smaller Athari school has a literalist reading of hand.
Thats what literalist means textually, all Muslims are fundamentalists as that is wajib part of being a Muslim to believe in the religion literally. But how the text is read isnāt literal always it depends on the context of the verse and the arabic linguistic lay out of a sentence etc. Same for Biblical scholars.
1 Cor 15:3-4, āFor I delivered unto you first all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures: And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.ā
The grave of the leader of my faith is EMPTY!
Is this one of the corrupted prophesies?
Gen 16:11-12, āAnd the angel of the LORD said unto [Hagar}, Behold thou art with child, and shall bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every manās hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.ā
That statement does not exist anywhere in the Bible. Read the plain English.
When you throw human beings, and free will, in the mix, you are taking a risk. Even if you are God.
This is just an uneducated statement.
Prove to me aristotle existed. Prove plato existed.
yeah thatās my cue to leave this section of TNation lol. This was a fun experiment. But i no longer have the patience to cope with retarded strawman rebuttals.
I donāt know.
You canāt. Does it matter if they did or didnāt?
