Anyone Else Hate Maxim Magazine?

LOL, let off some steam Bennett.

I used to read it. It is a great shitting mag. Articles are short and mindless and I can scan the whole thing in two shittings.

Ironically enough Im reading the History of United States Regime Change; on the can, currently.

Which is a political science and history text.

But thats simply because I dont get any magazines and I have to read something.

No, I spend my leisure time navigating by sextant, restoring ancient parchments and enjoying high tea with aged British socialites

Listen, I’m all for occasional mindless entertainment. Hell, I get a chuckle out of Family Guy once in awhile, a show written by manatees. I have nothing against people who read the odd Maxim to pass some time.

I think what bothers me is that, if Maxim actually did include something of intellectual value…ANYTHING of intellectual value, even interspersed between their usual “how to make tarantulas fight”-type articles, sales would plummet. I know you could make the argument that those kind of articles could be found elsewhere, but judging by a lot of the kids I see these days it isn’t much of a stretch to imagine that Maxim is probably their sole source of printed text.

I suppose I’m more upset that the bar has been lowered to such an extent that magazines like Maxim actually thrive, while National Geographic sales stagnate.

omg.
why so serious?
obviously we all enjoy some non-intellectual diversion, that’s why we’re posting in an internet forum.

there are some more inspiring alternatives though…

Fucking hilarious. You use a sextant too?

On a side note at least half the guys I know that read Maxim are walking, talking, living brain donors. (My co-workers)

I like Maxim. FHM too.

I like The Economist also, but they’re expensive.

That’s Ewa Sonnet.

I recognize those…er…I mean my coworker saw it and knew who it was.

Yeah, that’s it.
Doug, that’s an amazing talent to recognize go-geous women like that … take credit for it and NEVER be ashamed

I have to disagree with one part… Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy, is quite intelligent. To have a show so ridiculous and funny it must require some form of genius, even if the show depicts the intelligence of a manatee. The guy is a smart dude from the interviews I’ve listened of him.

LOL, the manatee reference was actually from South Park. I’ve heard MacFarlane speak before at a graduation ceremony, and you’re right, and he’s definitely no idiot. Family Guy is pretty funny sometimes. I think this is my favorite clip…

FHM was better before it went under in the US.

But seriously guy…there are hot chicks, and it?s easy crapper reading…is that worthy of a declining population intellect thread?

Even that has gone down the drain, you should read some of their childish Obama articles.

See the OP was discussing how the male gender has too short of an attention span…

And then we were all: “HEY!! lets go ride bikes !!!”
hahaha yes.

i was going to say something about how the wording of the magazines in the past few – BOOBIES!!!

For the past year I’ve only been reading Adbusters, but I’m beginning to think it’s just as shitty in a whiny hipster way.
