I came across this supplement, GW501516, on a website today. Does anybody here know anything about it?

Perhaps a better name than “GW501516” could be developed…
That’s very interesting. In the New Scientist article it mentions that it increased the amount of slow-twitch muscle fiber. This wouldn’t be of so much use for strength athletes I would assume, but perhaps that it simply a result of the methods of “training” used for the mice.
Regardless the possibilities for lipid catabolism are promising, and if it increases endurance at the same time it will be interesting to see how this fares testing.
This is an investigational drug currently in Phase II clinical trials investigating the effects on raising the levels of HDL cholesterol ( the "good cholesterol) It is manufactured by GSK (Glaxo Smith Kline) It also has quite a few “off-target effects” on other lipids and muscle.
I would not look for it on any supplement shelf. It’s “off market” license stipulates that it is not for use in humans.
