No. I’m the most famous in the family… which really isn’t saying much.

lol

I opened up a flex mag in the supermarket and showed my girlfriend your pics, all the while bragging that I sometimes converse with you on the internet.

She thinks I’m a dork, I still think I’m cool.

You ARE a dork, Lanky. I’m never in Flex.
MuscleMag is where I’m at monthly.

lolz

Well in my defense, I usually flip through all the mags in the supermarket. But yeah, I still totally bragged about “knowing” you.

And I’m an accountant, everyone knows accountants aren’t dorks.

The small amount of Persian in my blood comes from someone a few branches away having an affair with a persian prince a long time ago.

Rosanne Cash, never met her though.

My grandfather and great grandfather are in the trickriding Hall of Fame and my grandfather was also the 1941 and '42 bullriding national champion.

John Brown from “Bleeding Kansas” and the Harper’s Ferry Raid fame (he killed a bunch of pro-salvery people in Kansas in 1856 and took over a federal armory in Harper’s Ferry, VA in an attempt to spark an armed revolt against slave owners in 1858-both of which were major catalysts behind the start of the Civil War) was my great, great, great, great, great grandfather.

My great grandpa fought Max Baer and he and my grandpa both won the golden gloves back in the day.

Yes, I am. I’m not going to mention his name, because I share it, its pretty distinct and I like to maintain a state of (perceived) anonymity on the internet. Also, I’m not really a fan of name dropping. The fact that I’m related to him in no way accounts for any of his talent or implies that I have done anything special other than being born into the same family as he.

I’m a bit jaundiced to the whole situation, as I was often completely alienated by people much older than me when I was a kid, simply due to the fact that I was related to him. My relative is a famous musician who’s main fan base is mostly people over 40. Being raised in a pretty small town, adults would either know that I was related, or ask me (because of my last name). Here was a pretty typical scenario:

<Scene: Backyard BBQ at friend’s parent’s house. 50-75 people in attendance, some familiar to me, but many strangers. Many semi-intoxicated, shirtless men with brown bottle in hand. I am, oh, perhaps 7 years old at the time>

Drunken slob: Your friend’s dad tells me that your is . That true?! (belch)

Me: Umm, yes. (I was a very shy kid and these types would literally scare the crap out of me)

Slob: HOLY SHIT!! (burp) Oh, sorry to say “shit”, you’re like 7 aren’t you? (takes sip). But SERIOUSLY, that ROCKS!! You know I saw your play at back in <70’s year>. That was back when was opening for <relative’s band>.

Me: Oh…ok. (take apprehensive lick of “Fun Dip” and look around for parental intervention)

Slob: You know (wobble, belch)…your was the reason I first started . Did you (takes sip)…did you…know that?!

Me: No

Slob: Tell me…tell me that you play <relative’s instrument>!! You’d better! (sweat drips from pendulous gut onto my shoes)

Me: Well, no…I can’t play any instruments (looking frantically around for ANY support here…friend, sober adult, bird on bird feeder…nothing)

Slob: WHAT?! (slobber flies into my face) WHAT…wait here a sec…HEY STU! (yells to friend) HEY STU…this kid’s is <relative’s name> and he’s tellin’ me he doesn’t even play <relative’s instrument>!! Get over here and talk to him!!

Take situations like the above, liberally scatter them throughout my childhood, and some might see why I choose to downplay my relationship to this relative. [/quote]

That’s some funny shit.

It’s Lindsay Buckingham, isn’t it? Go on, you can tell me.

Elton John is my aunt on my mother’s side.

I have a relative that spent 10 years in pro baseball in the 1970’s and 80’s. He wasn’t a superstar or anything but was a very good utility player and had respectable career.

I don’t have any famous relatives, that would be cool if I had some, but MLIA

Arnold is my dad

My uncle, My mothers little brother, is married to Urban Myers Wifes Sister. So thats my uncle and Urban Myers, the Head coach of Florida Gators Football (my favorite team) are brother in laws. I have yet to have a backyard BBQ with him but I hope some day i can.

Good guess, but no.

Its one of the Mini-Pops. The one that didn’t get sodomized by his manager.

I dont have any famous relatives but alot of people im proud to have a distant relation to haha… My great great…grand father lied about his age to fight for the north in the civil war, I’m related to an extremely ancient line of Irish kings which held seven castles across Ireland some of which still stand today and some other pretty cool stuff.

A distant relative of mine was the hobo that the band Supertramp named themselves after. Cool.

Distant relative won the Pulitzer for music. But that only really impresses people who study music theory generally.

Plus, he’s very distant. We don’t know each other at all.

My Godfather built a boat by hand, and sailed around the world. My grandfather beat up German SS back in the day when they thought they could come and eat in his restaurant for free.

I’m the famous person in the family this generation

My great-great (great?) grandmother’s cousins were the Grimm brothers. Apparently, from what I understand from ancient relatives that still like to gossip about the past, they were mischievious pains in the butt when they were young.

Also, in the late 1800’s, one of my relatives faked his death to get away with murder, assumed a fake last name (which I bear today) and ran off to X state, which I shall not name.

My cousin was blamed for the Amaranth Fiasco. . . a rogue Canadian Trader.

I think he’s the most famous one we have in our family.

I grew up going to school with Jarome Iginla. . . not family but I spent lots of time in class with him.

STU

only in their minds, they are very very famous
