Competition Recap.
16 men competing, with 10 in the Rx division (the one I competed in). My first WOD started at 8:45 am.
WOD 1.
11 min AMRAP
10 thrusters, 95 lbs
10 calories, row
2 toes-2-bar**
**add 2 reps each round
Me = 5 rounds + 12 T2B + 2 thrusters. = 144 total Reps.
Good for third place!!
About an hour later, did this:
WOD 2.
For time:
12 alternating DB snatches, 50 DB
12 burpee box jump overs, 24" box
Me = 7:07. Good for (yet again) third place.
Last one:
Bear Crawl for max weight within a 7 min time cap:
Start with bar on floor, dead lift to hang, then:
- Hang power clean
- Front squat
- Shoulder to overhead, catch behind the neck
- Back squat
- Behind the neck press/jerk to overhead
- Drop to hang
- Repeat the sequence
- Bar can’t touch the ground
Me = 155 lbs (failed at 175 lbs).
Overall: took third place. Officially my place was out of 16 men (10 in Rx, 6 in scaled). Won a pair of TYR trainers and a Rogue weight belt.
Here’s me getting the 155 lbs on the bear crawl. I had the 175 all the way through until the 2nd behind the neck press, and I stalled. So bummed. Thought I had that lift. My form does suck, though.
Notes: Gotta be pretty pleased overall. I was the oldest by 10 over years and competed well. I paced well on the first two workouts. Once again, my form holds me back. Notice on the bear crawl I rely too much on strict pressing rather than leg drives and catching in a deeper squat. This also comes into play on the thrusters.
I thought I might really catch back up on the burpee box jump overs coupled with the DB snatches. Being kinda short (5’9") is a hinder on the box jump overs. They were box facing, which means I had to position myself coming off the box to go into the burpee. Kept a good pace but never had it in me to really turn on the burners.
Really fun day overall! Can’t wait to compete again.
