Anti feminists Help

I know a lot of funny women, but can’t think of a single funny female stand up.

I’ll check out the names mentioned though and see if they can change my mind

A lot of humor and material for writers and comedians is based off of stereotypes. So if a feminist is told a joke which perpetuates a stereotype or makes light of a social situation s/he considers damaging, then it is unlikely s/he will laugh at it. The same can be said for people who deal with social issues in other parts of their lives. I know a guy who was a director at a homeless shelter; he doesn’t think jokes about homelessness or pranks done to the homeless are at all funny.

Though it has been written feminists will laugh at comedy that exposes stereotypes rather than perpetuates them.

Not sure you can state women aren’t funny. They are and there are tons of female entertainers which point to that. Lucille Ball has already been mentioned, and that is a funny lady. Her sitcom was good, but what really gets people laughing is Lucille Ball’s stand-up and early radio work. Carol Burnett is another entertainer you can research. I’m mentioning these two because each has decades of information on them that vary from their lives to types of work, collaborations, and their influences on other performers.

You’ll notice a lot of female comedians take on a masculine tone in their comedy acts.

Lisa Lampenelli is a perfect example. Very boyish

There is plenty of evidence that women are not funny. You’re blind if you can’t see it. Just look at Priya on big bang theory, Jill on Home Improvement, Cheryl on According to Jim, ALL the wives and girlfriends on Two and a Half Men. And of course don’t forget Betty and Wilma! Biggest killjoys ever.

OMFG Watch the 30 Rock episode “Stride of Pride” Season 7 Episode 3, they covered this exact topic fucking hilarious.

Watch it bro.

Goldie Hawn was funny
Lily Tomlin was hysterical
Roseanne Rosannadana was very funny
Ellen is funny
Flo for Progressive is funny

Of course they are. Most men are big pussies and can’t take it if they had to endure real humour from a woman’s point of view. You could start counting to ten on a thread showing up here saying ‘if a man said this the feminists would freak out!!! wah pussification of america!!’

You would be able to hear the testicles receding if a female Andrew Dice Clay became popular. Kinda like when Sex and the City came along.

Mebbe.

But they dont freak out.

Feminists on the other hand, indeed, do freak out.

So, that is a perfectly accurate observation, and you try to equate that observation to the real thing?

This is hamsterbating.

I don’t think he was saying women in general aren’t funny. I think he was asserting that lesbians or at least very vocal feminist lesbians aren’t funny.

If we are talking lit crit modern feminists that are pretty much non essentialists…I’d say they don’t have a lot of humor but nor do most lit/social crit people of either gender imo.

I don’t think any comedian is as funny when they pretty much focus solely on one particular issue with a political bent. Cho used to be more funny in my opinion. Ellen is still pretty funny. I think if you examine both of their body of works the difference in focus is pretty apparent.

I do think that spaces created for lesbian women have a very different vibe than those for heteros of each gender and both have a very different vibe from those created for gay men. Take a look at clubs for each group. Purely in my opinion the former are dreary, and the last are vibrant and trendy…though not particularly to my taste.

I don’t know.
I usually find feminists extremely funny.
unintentionally funny, that is.
But who cares ?

Women won’t ever become all that funny because there’s little to no returns for developing their humour.

Humour has almost no effect on their sexual desirability. For men, the exact opposite is the case.

i think it was louis ck who said something like men cant laugh with an erection. he was refering to why he allowed male nudity in his show but not female nudity. but i do think men get defensive when women constantly talk about dicks in their act.
the writing of this topic in vanity fair by one of the wisest men this planet has ever had, christopher hitchens, is mentioned by him on youtube

i dont think i have ever seen a funny woman in person. though i remember one girl in high school said “snow nigger”. i dont remember the context but it was pretty funny.

Radical feminists are often, INADVERTENTLY hilarious!

As for women & their level of funniness in general, lots of women have the potential to be really funny…only problem is, most women tend to be far too self-conscious to be really, really funny.

If women weren’t funny, then there wouldn’t be any successful women comedians or comedic actresses.

It’s all subjective, anyway.

I can’t stand Lisa Lampenelli. She’s as overrated as Duane Cook.

There is a marked difference between being situationally funny (such as in a show) and being a stand-up-comedian funny, which I believe is what is being discussed.

The female stand-up comedian that’s not just bitter or a one-trick pony is rare.

The height of stand up, to me, was the old, 1970s, Steve Martin stuff. My mom had all that on albums and I listened to them in the garage. I don’t think anyone has ever gotten close to that — he would literally fill football stadiums doing stand up.

Tie in the evolutionary advantage of humor… how guys tend to be funnier because humor is usually a sign of a good and creative brain. This is important because as humans brains are the number 1 weapon for getting around for survival, and women who are attracted to a good, humorous brain has better chance of finding a mate with good genes. So that makes guys try harder to be funny to pursuit women, where women are the ones being chosen, they need not to be funny to be impressive, they just have to look sexy.

Came across this on the Guardian. It’s an article in which the author explains why they aren’t funny, or at least shouldn’t be, according to her.
