Another Rendition Incident
Why do so many people actually believe the torture allegations?

All the terrorism suspects have to do is lie and say they were tortured and so many people get upset.
Some of the people who are reporting torture were released because it turns out they were not terrorists.

Somehow, you seem to get the idea that the fact someone is picked up makes them a terrorist and hence they deserve whatever they get.

There are Canadian, British and obviously German citizens who have been reporting events of torture. Go educate yourself as to their stories…

These people don’t have a lot of incentive to lie about what has happened to them – and they are NOT current terrorist suspects reporting these issues while in custody.

Why do some find it so hard to believe that actual torture is taking place?

[edit: added NOT]

I suspect the torture incidents are much lower than the allegations.
But here is this one guy the US says is innocent that claims that he has been tortured…

One is actually more than enough. Especially if it could happen to me too, because apparently only American lives are sacred…

They believe them because people in the U.S. MILITARY AND GOVERNMENT, like Captain Ian Fishback and Powell’s former chief of staff, have come forward and said that’s what we’re doing. There probably are more allegations than incidents. but the allegations are only given any credence because of the way this administration has dramatically reversed centuries of American repudiation of torture (in spite of denials from all of them).

Vroom, why do you dwell on this?

Why don’t you focus on the evil done by the terrorists?

Why don’t you mention the UN report that recently pointed out that China is still torturing many of its own citizens?

Are you anti-US or anti-torture?

May I dwell on this a little bit?

Do you realize that kidnapping one of our citizens, sending him to a unknown location and interrogating him in a rather unpolite fashion is actually considered to be a crime by most, if not all, European law sytems?

There might even be some Europeans that get the impression that American organisations act under the assumption that European citizens are second-class human beings,

Perhaps you haven’t heard, but there is a war on.
Yeah, that seems to be justifying an awful lot of stuff these days.
