Another Penis Amputation

Couple of problems with your supposition, Oleena. One is that if we go ahead and posit for a moment that he WAS abusing her horrifically, she should have welcomed the divorce he initiated. But she was upset about losing him, not about having to stay with him.

The other thing is that her actions left him alive. I would have some sympathy for a woman who feels that the only way to get out…and her children with her…is to kill the man who’s been terrorizing her for years. Many women believe their battering spouses have the power to keep children, track wives down, etc. So again, a murder makes a sad kind of sense, particularly if the woman has had unsatisfying dealings with the police/criminal justice system (husband is arrested and then home tomorrow because she’s afraid to speak out) and doesn’t trust the system to help her.

But this woman committed this vicious act seemingly without concern for repercussions. That doesn’t suggest terror to me. It suggests crazy, malevolent cruelty.

This is true.

Did you skip the part where I said I still considered it wrong regardless of the history? If there was abuse involved, it wouldn’t be a black and white issue of “Oh it’s completely justified that she did that because of X”. Anyone who can drug another person and tie them up isn’t much of a victim. Responsibility for the cruelty would still land firmly on her shoulders regardless of a previous history of abuse, as there are several other ways of dealing with abuse

Laughing about PMS? Offensive.

Laughing about penis mutilation? Different, because that’s funny!

inb4 any female poster accuses me of lumping all women together

Wow, of all the places where a thread on how male genital mutilation being bad, could turn into a accusations from posters of hate against women. You would not expect this to happen on FEMnation… shit I mean TNation.

Very interesting. You can’t even joke about PMS INDIRECTLY, but if we even mention women laughing at penis amputation we get told we have something wrong with our sexuality and LOATHE WOMEN.

Just tuning into this thread now.

Scorned Asian chicks, gotta watch out for them.

It’s an absolute miracle my penis isn’t decomposing in a Japanese landfill right now…

When I post some misery committed by men and in so doing announce “THIS IS JUST LIKE MEN” and then argue with men who say they would never think about behaving in this way and don’t know anyone who does…you should accuse me of an anti-male bias. But I don’t do that because some men are some men and other men are other men and they’re not all the same and don’t think or act the same.

This is true in this thread as well. I accused ONE man of displaying an anti-female bias based on patterns of thinking displayed in this thread. I did not generalize to all the men posting their outrage over the amputation or over the laughter, which was…I agree…unseemly at best.

But again, please feel free to use my words to fan your negative feelings. Whatever makes you feel good!

That was fun. I checked around their website and some blogs.

“I think the ads are mean spirited because itâ??s not something that women can control. Not all women treat their husbands/boyfriends terribly, and if they do, they probably donâ??t mean to be that way.”

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. “I’m not always terrible to my husband, but when I do, it’s not because I mean it”.

The poster you did accuse of railing against women, actually shared the views of the majority of men posting on the thread. So you were accusing all of us of being anti-women. Some people even said that the thread was anti-women.

Genital mutilation of any gender is a crime against humanity. What happens after the story breaks will define our society. I fear for our future.

That “some people even said that the thread was anti-women” has nothing to do with me. I was not that person. When I wish to ally myself with the views of other posters I typically express that explicitly (“I agree with whomever”). Otherwise it should not be assumed that I do. That other posters share the views of the poster I suggested seemed invested in hanging onto his negative feelings (his “fear and loathing”) is as it may be, but that also is not my problem or concern. It is important to be able to distinguish one human being from another and that is a skill I possess.

I did not, for example, find the original post in this thread anti-women. I found it anti-penis-amputation. Big difference!

Sesame Street had a character named Roosevelt Franklin. Although he was supposed to portray a young black kid, he was represented in a purple color.

By this logic, wouldn’t The Count also be considered black?

lol
