Androgel Results/Info?

I have been reading many many posts on Androgel and have not gotten the answers I am looking for so I decided to get some insight myself. I was recently tested (twice, 2 weeks apart). First test came back with a total T of 208. GP put me on 2.5 grams a day (I know, STUPID).

Went to an Endo (who laughed at the GP perscription), took another test, came back with a total T of 199. Also with a Vitamin D deficiency, which I am now taking 135,000 units a week prescription of. The Endo gave me the Androgel pump (1.62%) and told me to take 4 pumps a day, which is 81mg of T (supposedly). That means that I will be taking 567mg of T a week.

My questions are…

Can I expect gains? What kind should I be looking for?

How long until I feel effects? I feel none. I have been taking the 1.62% for 2 weeks.

Any other info. you can provide would be awesome. I am really lost as in this supbject right now. Thanks all!

gains in what sense? The gym? IF you are deficient in T and are working out, then adding T will certainly help. You should be able to recover better from workouts and drop BF and add muscle. Just like a normal person.

I would give it a few more weeks for the effects. Get full on blood tests about at the 4 week mark. This will tell you if you are absorbing it or not. Some people do not.

Sorry for the confusion, by gains I did mean at the gym. Increase muscle and strength and cut body fat. Thanks for you help VT.

I am no expert, and also use 4 pumps of the 1.62 Androgel per day.
You only absorb roughly 10% of the 81mg per day. Meaning, you will be getting
about 56mg per week. 500+mg per week would make you blow up.
Still at 56mg/per week you will make more gains than you were with your natural
production. Do yourself a favor and read the stickies, lots and lots of great information in there.

Good Luck!

Thanks PK! Please excuse my ignorance, I’m new to the site…stickies?

stickys/stickies/stickeys are the threads at the top of the main forum page that are “stuck” there (meaning new threads will be started below them). They contain the most useful information for the site and are a good place to start when you join a forum. They are indicated by a yellow sticky-note beside of them.

Excellent, thanks again VT.

I know “studies show” that I should wait to see results. My fatigue has not changed whatsoever, I could sleep at any given time of day. For hours! My last endo appointment was 12/1 and my next one isnt until February. Getting a little frustrated. Should I call them? Is that too premature?

I would give it a couple weeks. If no improvement, push your doc. It probably won’t work though.

You need blood tests after about 4 weeks on your new protocol.

Sounds like a plan. Good deal VT. Thanks for the info.

Hey Man, be sure to read the sticky about Estrodial.
Chances are yours (like mine) has gone up with the extra T that you are
getting from the androgel. My doc questioned me on why I wanted my E2 checked
with my bloodwork (he isn’t the best trt doc around). Long story short,
my E2 was in the high range something like 55 out of 65. I didn’t feel much better than
when I started and my nips were sensitive and itchy (not a good sign).
I ended up taking liquidex (can order on line)as my doc looked at me like I had 4 heads when I asked for the prescription version of it called anastrolzole.
Once you get your E2 (estrodial) in the lower 20’s you will feel a lot better and
reap the benefits of trt.
Again, read those stickies…it will make this transition much easier.
Good Luck.

Thanks PK. Will do. I see the doc next week and plan on speaking with her about it. She’s very down to earth so I dont think there will be any issues. I am also going to discuss switching to injections. 3 toddlers and the inconvenience of rubbing a bunch of gel on everyday is becoming sort of a hassle.
