Well it was just down the road from me. Obviously I didn’t miss much.
But with all Silva’s clowning and leering and pure bloody perfection…is that how it must have been to watch Jack Johnson back in the day?? Makes you wonder…

Use punctuation for fuck’s sake.
I have absolutely no problem with a bit of showboating during the fight. The problem with Silva was that he was far too excessive with his douchebaggery. He also didn’t finish the fight despite being able to at almost any moment. Hell, Silva the fighter checked the fuck out of that fight half-way through and left Silva the fuckhead in his place.
Talented or not, he’s being a shitty champion.
It’s an internet forum and is the only place I don’t have to use proper punctuation.

Where did all this be respectful shit start? It’s a fight
You’ve got to be kidding… Silva brought it on himself. He acted like a clown. I hope White feeds him to Lesner…

Brock didn’t do anything close to what Silva did last night.
Silva could have been, and imho, SHOULD have been, DQ’ed for his actions last night. I wish the Ref had had even tiny balls…
They need to move him DEFINITELY to HW or LHW there he doesn’t clown with anyone because they have real power and striking ability.
Fedor would murder him

One fight should never justify comments like this. Did Hopkins/RJJ II prove that MMA is more entertaining than boxing??

I agree one fight should never justify that comment, but it’s been a string of fights now from Silva, the supposed P4P king in the UFC.
I have seen better and more exciting fights in the WEC and Boxing than the UFC. I’m not dissing the sport or the organization, I commented on the fact that I would rather watch a fight like say a Pacquiao vs Mosley, which is a guaranteed slugfest and a shitload more entertaining than a Hopkins/RJJ(which I didn’t watch. Old ass fighters way past their prime).
AND I’d rather watch Clay Guida battle it out with Diego Sanchez again than anything with Silva in it. It’s great that these guys in the UFC are skilled and very technical, but sometimes the entertainment value is greatly diminished because of lackluster performances like this. WEC is where it’s at right now IMO. As a fan, and not really a practitioner of the sport, as I know you are BigBoss, I would watch two brawlers over two BJJ black belts.
well, i did not see the fight, but i’d still like to comment on Anderson Silva…
obviously he’s doing whatever he wants with the MW division, but i’m tired of watching him. he’s so afraid of losing, he’s no longer aggressive. and from what i’ve heard, he should’ve been able to KO or TKO Maia at any point from their last fight, but he chose not to…
i think any professional fighter should be always looking to finish the fight, in addition to racking up points with punching combinations, leg kicks, takedowns and submission attempts.
in my opinion, this is where Silva and GSP differ. GSP was aggressive, successfully taking people down and attempting submissions.
fighters are entertainers, regardless whther thy want to admit it, so if they’re no longer entertaining, i don’t want to watch. i guess that’s why i prefer the UFC Fight Night or WEC events…

GSP was told not even to pass guard by Greg Jackson, the old GSP would have had a GnP fiesta on Hardy’s face. Title fights are going to continue like this unless pride rules are adopted.

Fuck no. I was pissed when Brock acted like an Ass, but he fucked up Mir easily and he always works his ass off in the fight. Although I may not like the guy, he at least tries to finish the fight, unlike Anderson “The Asshole” Silva.
drewh wrote:
And do any of you watch boxing I guess Roy Jones jr. should have been banished from the sport
RJJ made a mockery of opponent’s, but he still did it while beating their ass and bringing the fight. Silva hardly committed to the fight at all.
What Silva did last night was a disgrace (and I am a AS fan). His last 3 fights at MW have echoed the same tone.
He ran around showboating, seemingly intent on showing fans he could act as a stunt double for the Matrix or perhaps his best imitation of a seizure victim, but certainly not a fighter.
His childish playground antics of getting Maia to engage with him had me in disbelief.
If you feel that your opponent is that inferior to you…you do one thing…finish him in dramatic fashion, wreck him. What you don’t do is make a mockery of him and run around the ring for 5 rounds like you’re crump dancing and saying “Look at what I can do! I’m great!”
Whatever. God this thread sounds like my sister and her friends bitching about american idol. I agree with Ronsauce that Silva is being a shitty champion and a punk but whatever. Silva can do whatever he wants and apparently is. The times in my life when I’ve been able to do whatever I want I’ve pretty much acted like a complete clown and a total fucking douchebag too… want me to behave ? Make me.
That’s where Silva is at and that’s pretty much how the world outside of TV works and he’ll prolly continue doing this shit until he either grows out of it or someone makes him do otherwise…The awesome thing is it’s obvious Silva has no respect for Dana White and I’d like to think that he was clowning Dana every bit as much as he was Maia.
Dana is a fuckin twat and I’d love to see his shit get fucked AMAP but more likely he’ll b laughing to the bank with this story of jackass monkeyclown Silva vs valedictorian wonderboy GSP. Shit he’s probably paying Silva extra to do this shit so he can run around using big words like “disgrace” and “embarassment” like he’s fucking Bud Selig or something.

qft
No, not qft at all.
Definitely not qft. When he’s getting paid good money and the fans are paying top dollar for seats and ppv…we expect him to what he’s paid to do…fight.
Whatever, that’s why i love Fedor, from the moment the bell rings he comes at full speed to steal your soul

And I’ve seen better and more exciting fights in UFC,Strikeforce,DREAM,Affliction, etc than boxing…and vice versa…AND interchangeably with each MMA organization. But I take it that you’re just venting about Silva…considering that you’re still a fan of WEC.
And what is your point about “watching two brawlers over two BJJ black belts??” That’s a very subjective comment in terms of match-ups and skill-sets within any MMA org. But that’s the beauty of the sport…you have fans of technical strikers over brawlers…BJJ practitioners(like Maia) over wrestlers and so on.
Also, think about the fact that sometimes your BJJ black belts(and wrestlers) can be the better “brawler.” Chris Lytle comes to mind. But overall,I do get your point…just thought your way of getting it across was a little flawed.

Reads like you have a serious man crush brah.
As someone already stated, he is the champ and can do what he wants. Get some quality competition for the man and maybe he’ll put on a real fight. Roy Jones did the same thing (but punished his opponent) whenever he faced inferior competition.
