And In Other News

The file was obvioulsy cropped somehow. Are you two retards really trying to say that the GOP and Dems are on level playing field with the use of the filibuster?

How do you like that graph, nancy?

30 Percent (!) of the total cloture motions filed in the past 100 years have occurred under McConnell since the Dems took control in 2008. So over 5 years, we have THIRTY FUCKING PERCENT of the total used. Yeah that is real level playing field.

You two buttbuddies can close your eyes and ignore the facts and keep playing “who’s hand is that” if you want to though…

The eloquence continues…government work must be either very boring (don’t work too hard!) or maddening.

Bummer.

On a related note, per the other thread, science has proven that human pieces of shit prefer government jobs.

Not sure we needed science to confirm this, but it’s good to have confirmation.

With partisan control and cloture use in the same visual field, it appears that the frequency of filibuster spiked first when used by the Republican minority in the early 1970s, steadily increased under control of both parties, and then spiked again in use by the Democratic minority between 2004 and 2008. Since that time, the frequency of filibuster/cloture has declined â?? although it remains far greater than in decades past.

Well it looks like you are getting your little pink panties in a twist and have absolutely zero intention of getting back on topic, so I’ll just throw this out here to support what I said (and you were incorrect about) and let anybody else that cares to make their own judgement:

It looks like the years of heaviest use were by the dems.

You’re adorable…look up definitions of cloture, and then relook at the tables and graphs you little rascal you…I’m sure you can do

As a side note, I don’t care who used filibuster the most (it was unquestionably the 'Pubs) I think it is a childish maneuver to fall on regardless of what side of the aisle is currently using it. I’m glad to see it eliminated regardless of who it benefits at the current time.
…look up definitions of cloture,
I had already looked it up earlier today …the procedure that Senate rules provide for shutting down a filibuster.

Goodness, you are just a treat to talk too. Now I know why you went into government work.

Sooooo, let’s just recap:

-You know what cloture is (?)
-You realize it would be evoked predominantly by the controlling party in response to a minority filibuster (?)
-You know the Dems were in control of the Senate since 2006 elections (?)
-You look at the chart showing that 446 motions for cloture have been filed since 2007 (?)
-You look at the bottom of the chart showing that 1432 cloture motions have been filed since 1917 (?)
-You do the math of 446/1432 = 31% (?)
-You realize that 31% of the motions for cloture filed in the past hundred years have occurred in the past 7 while Dems have controlled the Senate (?)
-You still claim that Dems have the heaviest use of the filibuster??!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!??!!!?!?!?!?!?!

Adorable…

Actually, ignore my last post. I didn’t realize you had already came to your sense when you said:
UtahLama wrote:

Because you were obviously saying it looks like the years of heaviest use [of motions for cloture] were by the Dems, acknowledging that the party in power would be using that in response to a filibuster by the minority (Republicans). Sorry for not realizing that you had already realized your initial claims were false…

Unless you didn’t…

Hello? Bueller?

I thought this was a pretty good article by Pat Caddell, a Democrat, regarding the Senate rule change.

yawn

Except when the senate amended the rules in 1917 and again in 1975 to make it easier to bust a filibuster. Let’s just ignore that and hope the readers won’t notice

Except for pretty much the last 10 years…

Not really relevant to the topic of the nuclear option, but ok let’s make sure we throw this in there so everyone will start talking about it and hope it gains some traction. And then when it doesn’t, a la the Benghazi cover-up, we will just sweep it under the rug and pretend like we never thought it was true…
Indeed, the most egregious was the Democratic and Republican leaders coming together to agree to ignore the language in the Affordable Care Act legislation and grant themselves and their staffs a special subsidy.
A statement not even remotely based in reality. OPM has always provided a contribution to help offset the costs of Congress’s salary, just like many employers. Convenient there is no mention of what specific language they are actually ignoring that would prohibit them from continuing to receive this subsidy after some dipshit Republican from Iowa insisted Congress give up their current health plans to join the exchanges.
[more useless rants with questionably dubious claims about what past presidents and congress have done
That’s nice, put down the shiny object and focus on the topic…what were we writing about again? Ah yes, nuclear option
And of course it was a Republican-led Senate, supported by a Republican president that first threatened to invoke the nuclear option until responsible Republican senators were willing to act for constitutional government,
Well the Constitution says the Senate shall confirm nominations, THE Senate, not ALL Senators, not MOST Senators, just “THE SENATE” as a body. They are given the power to enact their own rules BY THE CONSTiTUION and in deciding to send the crybabies packing, they answered that duty. Ho-Hum the witch is dead.
Thursday, only three Democrats were willing to put the institution before this effort
to achieve a short-term political goal.

That, my friends, this is the very definition of a slippery slope.
Huh? No it’s not. What in the hell are you talking about? How are three senators being opposed the definition of a slippery slope?
Surprisingly the outrage from the Republicans has been somewhat muted to say the least.

I have had conversations today with at least two conservatives who have said, “so what? It will work for us next time, as soon as we take the Senate back.” And I doubt that those sentiments that were expressed are unique only to me.
Wait, if it is beneficial for them, why then would it also be “surprisingly” they are not feigning outrage? You are just putting words together at this point muchahcha
First of all, the Senate, by it’s own rules, has a specific way of operating. There are many, many things, mundane things every day that occur only by “unanimous consent.” The dissent of one senator can often delay the workings of the Senate.

Imagine what would happen if 45 or 48 Senators decide that they will agree to nothing in the face of this.
Maybe because they’re potty trained and aren’t immature whiny bitches like the rest of their party? Is it really wise to demand that our elected officials don’t do a god damned thing? Great suggestion doofus!
Imagine if every bill and every proposal in front of the Senate were filibustered on principle and that it required an effort to constitutionally over it?
As opposed to half now…yeah great suggestion…you got yourself intot his mess by being obstructions assholes in the first place. So the clear choice is to do more of that! yeah!! Right on!!! Woo hoo…wait, couldn’t they just overturn filibusters for THOSE things too?? ZOMG!!!

Tuesday we honored the 150th anniversary of government of the people, by the people and for the people when we remembered Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
Yay Lincoln!!! Cause he was the first person to ever think this was a government for US…
I feel, without question, that there will soon be open warfare between the great vast majority of the American people and this self-perpetuating and self-aggrandizing ruling class that is willing to put their ambitions and power above a government of the American people.
LOL like with guns and stuff? Fisticuffs? Badmouthing? What in the fuck are you trying to say? Or are you just trying to end this as expeditiously as possible before you lose your readers?

Gotta say Push if you and your ilk run around reading articles like this and thinking “hey that’s really good, he really spoke to me” it is no wonder you are afforded such little intellectual respect.
