Some other good news, the moron behind the $1 Billion for iPads for every kid in Los Angeles Unified is hinting he is resigning. There is also another story circulating the reason why he was pushing the iPads to begin with, is because he was about to accept a job offer with Apple.
I think California will become a “test case” for the Nation as a whole, in terms of the direction we will go as a Nation.
We’ll see.

God help us then…that place is a hot wet mess.
I think that is exactly what will make it a test case, UL.
Every possible problem and/or division that we can see in our Nation as a whole is playing itself out in that one State…from moral and ethnic divisions… the role of the Public and Private sectors…to what to do about over-extended retirement obligations…

Some stats for you all to chew on…
5th highest unemployment rate in the nation.
Highest taxes in the nation, in almost every category.
Ranked 36th in the nation in education.
Worst roads in the nation.
Highest overall debt, with estimations of $800 Billion - $1.1 Trillion still unpaid and unfunded.
Most welfare in the nation, just 12% of the nation’s population but 33% of the total welfare. This was encouraged by the California Greek Tragedy":
“…From the mid-1980s to 2005, California’s population grew by 10 million, while Medicaid recipients soared by seven million; tax filers paying income taxes rose by just 150,000; and the prison population swelled by 115,000.”

Most illegal alien population.
Worst business environment 8 years in a row.
Ranked worst run state 2 years in a row.
Who of you wants to follow all that ^ ?
Max:
Exactly.
I think one could also add the crushing Pension/Retirement Liability that many cities in California are facing. You can only “tax” your way out of things so much; then you have to make some tough choices.
“And until they get off that kick, there’s not going to be a grand bargain,” Reid said. “There’s not going to be a small bargain. The only people who feel there shouldn’t be more [tax money] coming in to the federal government from the rich people are the Republicans in the Congress. Everybody else, including the rich people, is willing to pay more. They want to pay more.”

A story from the San Francisco Chronicle, more than half million Californians are being dropped from their healthcare plans because they do not meet Obamacare standards.
Update: The Los Angeles Times reports on Sunday that patients across California are struggling with the burden of higher insurance costs as a result of Obamacare, noting that “middle-income consumers face an estimated 30% rate increase, on average, in California due to several factors tied to the healthcare law.”

You’ve got to understand that in Muf’s world this, and other societal ills, is the Republican’s fault too. There’s no difference between the two parties nor any of its principal characters.
If a particular GOP’er or two, or a Libertarian for that matter, were to storm the scene at the national level trying to do what he/she could to hold back the tide of progressivism you can rest assured that it would prove to be nothing more than cheap, transparent self promotion. Always. Every time. There is no hope.
You probably have been through as many political cycles (if not more) than I have, Push.
Both Parties take different routes… and “talk-their-talk”…and yell and scream about how “different” they both are. But in the end, they end up going down the same paths.
Sorry if I don’t get any more excited by Cruz and Hannity than I do by Pelosi and Sharpton.

It’s basically Detroit, but on a state-scale.
But at least you are going to have a high speed train.
Can illegals get driver’s licenses in any other state?

I think there are a few states where illegals can drive.
If you’re not an illegal alien or a government worker, you’re fucked.
I’ve been very clear on what I’m waiting for…and I hope it happens soon…
Complete, and total control of both the House, Senate and White House by the GOP…with a filibuster/Veto-Free majority. I also hope that the majority of them are “real” conservatives.
If a “Pax-Romana” is ushered in…I will be shouting from the rooftops that the GOP IS different; I was completely wrong…and will be voting straight-ticket GOP for the rest of my Life.
