And In Other News
sufiandy wrote:

Probably none. Thompsons are very expensive, probably $20K.

Given only 40 to 50 individuals in the USA are killed by any kind of so-called assault rifle in a given year, highly doubltful there have been any since the 1950s or so when they stopped being issued to USA troops.

And the picture has a filename with “ak47” in the name

I could be wrong, but it doens’t look like a Thompson sub-machine gun to me. Looks like the Ak platform. Either way I just saved the picture using their description.

I’ve shot a Thompson a few times… So. Much. Fun. Very expensive though. The ammo is pricey and you blaze through it very very fast.

New Hampshire is a bad ass state.

Ranges up there have pretty much anything you could want, and all you need is a valid ID to shoot, lol.

I think it’s an AK, too, going by the front end.

I admit I’ve never seen an AK with a a drum magazine like a Thompson.

In fact, I haven’t seen an AK with that kind of stock, either, like a Thompson.

Looks to be a bastardization of scary bits of different weapons.

Ya well, in the peoples republic of Maryland, the police are probably already on their way to my house just for looking at that pic.

Forgive my ignorance as I have ZERO operational experience with the weapon platform, but perhaps it is a variant of the AK-74?

It’s pretty hard to tell if it’s an AK-47 or a 74 from the picture (or even something else – I am not going to say the Thompson opinions are wrong, but I am about 80% sure they are wrong).

The 74 is a bit smaller and fires a smaller round than the 47. A lot of internal bits are diffferent (and the 74 is a better overall weapon), but the outside is the same, and basically every crappy country has made versions of both rifles.

I’d have to read the side of the weapon or try to put a round in it to tell you.

Pricey ammo? It’s just .45 ACP, one of the two or three most common handgun cartridges in da world. It might be pricey now like everything else because of the gun control scare but it’s really not pricey compared to other cartridges.
I’ve always bought the boxes at the range, so maybe I’m getting porked on their mark up. Or maybe it is the fact you fly through ammo, because we are children and can’t not put it on auto after the first two clips.

I’m still pretty good shot on full auto. Once you learn to adjust for the drift, it isn’t too bad.

edit: ammo v auto

Another case of Government Over Reach. This is why I am moving closer to Libertarian, but I still like a strong US military presence overseas.
“…the United States joined in the nine day conference at New York to finalize negotiations of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). The treaty is intended to regulate the global trade of conventional weapons, but depending how the final document is worded, it could put at risk Americansâ?? right to keep and bear arms.”

Oh come on Utah. This is about conventional arms proliferation. You are much smarter than the wild speculation this article embodies. Do you think that U.N. forces would be able to enforce such a treaty on U.S. soil? American law is that international accords become part of the body of U.S. federal law. As a result, Congress can modify or repeal treaties by subsequent legislative action, even if this amounts to a violation of the treaty under international law.

If they cannot get the super majority to pass the gun laws they want, what stops them from passing a simple 2/3 majority and joining the UN treaty?

Their hypocrisy is mind boggling.

In other new, I received this email today about the creation of a White Student Union crime patrol from my college.

“I want to directly address the recent news of a White Student Union organization, once again claiming roots at Towson University. The Division of Student Affairs continues to clarify that there is no established or recognized ‘White Student Union’ (WSU) on Towson University’s campus. While a Towson University student attempted to form a recognized group in the fall, it failed to meet the university?s requirements for gaining recognition. In response to the establishment of the ‘WSU crime patrols’ at Towson University, Towson University Police Department (TUPD) continues to maintain their vigilance to keep our campus safe. The University does not endorse and strongly discourages patrols by this or any other student group.”

Good job MD white folks, good job?
