Last question I swear!

A few times in the last week my parents have stopped me and told me they can smell a sweet smell coming from my breath.

I hit ketosis the last time I dieted(no fats, no carbs bull etc) so I just wanna make sure this is normal, having sweet smelling breath occasionally?

On a side note, I cant smell or taste anything so my parents could just be paranoid lol.
uhh a “sweet” smell or a “sweaty” smell? when in keto some report their breathe smelling like ammonia and/or acetone

ammonia smells like paint and acetone smells like nail polish remover
LOL in my first year physiology class the professor said a sweet tasting breathe is the first sign of ketosis. and ketosis apparently is “your body eating itself” and “a sign of diabetes”, as well as “causing major kidney and liver problems”. according to the textbook and professor youre one non-carb meal away from dying!

gotta love college.

I cant seem to find the perfect balance yet where I get big/strong and cut fat. Still expirimenting with that.

Hey MAF whats up with the creatine is cutting it a bad move?

Also how do you guys eat on carb days? Any pointers?
i wouldnt count on gaining size and strength while dropping fat. maybe strength and a wee bit o’ size but not the former.

i really wouldnt cut the creatine. i dont see how it could be hurting you.

i eat clean (relatively) on carb days, potatoes, cereal w/ milk, cereal w/ protein(mixed with water), oatmeal, a couple pieces of fruit then at the end of the day i may have pizza or a cheat food
Thanks MAF I’ll give it a shot. Since I stopped with the Creatine the bloating went away so I dont look pregnant anymore. I’ll try keeping my carbs clean on the weekend and see how it goes. Good strength & size results with AD at 13-15 X BW so I’ll just stay in that zone for another 60 days. Maybe after that I will try something different to shed some fat. I’ll try that Creatine you spoke of earlier instead on the GNC AMP 189

On a side note since Bracardi and coke zero has no carbs is it ok to booze it up on AD? Probably not but just thought I’d ask the dudes out here…

lol IMO opinion there is a balance between being consistent and having fun.

in the past i wouldnt go out for weeks at a time bc i guess i thought i was being “dedicated”

i missed out on a lot of good times w/ friends and i really do regret it.

i would limit the boozing though

PS im no expert by the way, i just read the original AD thread like 3 times lol… im 20 yo

For optimal gains… Absolutely not. The whole point of the AD diet is to optimize hormone production. Alcohol fights this and lowers T levels along with raising estrogen production. (Ever wonder why people get so emotional while drinking?) Bottom line is that it’s a poison that has no business being consumed.

Just get the coke zero strait, or a low sugar red bull. You can still have a good time with your friends sober…

That’s how I see it atleast, some people feel that not drinking ruins their social life. If that’s the case, you have to determine what means more to you. Your social life or your gains in the gym and mirror. All about priorities man.

It will make your life easier if you surround yourself with people who have similar goals. People who don’t drink, hit the iron hard, are positive, and care about what they put in Their bodies…

Best of luck,
JK29

Im pretty dedicated but Ima extremist so I work hard, play hard, and party hard. When I party I got 3 kids so I dont get to boozing it up too much but when I do its on. I’d say on average I probably drink 1 - 2 nights a month

Thanks Maf yeah I got the original dr di book but theres some stuff its not all that clear on

so you’re saying that people who like to go out with friends, have a few drinks and have a good time aren’t dedicated? one night of a few beers is not going to ruin your gains at all. posts like this just annoy me.

Hey guys,

I posted on the other thread, but this one seems to have more “life”.

I started the AD on Saturday, and I am having a problem with workout performance. I do 5 3 1, today and yesterday were disastrous. :s

My stats are 20yr, 1.78m, 81kg. Here’s my plan for 4200kcals (probably going to increase soon)

Meal 1:
4 scrambled eggs with 75g of bacon, 100gr of cheese, 18gr of olive oil and lettuce

Meal 2:
30g BCAAs

Meal 3:
50gr Whey and 1 banana

Meal 4:
250g red meat, 200gr broccoli, 100g cheese, 18gr olive oil

Meal 5:
2 eggs, 100gr cheese, 18gr olive oil

Meal 6:
250gr red meat, 200gr broccoli, 100g cheese, 18gr olive oil

Meal 7:
40gr casein, 25gr whey, 50gr flax seeds, 18gr olive oil

Anyone else did 5/3/1 during the induction period?
the induction period feels like hell for 9 out of 10 people. just battle through it and you’ll get adjusted in time
EDIT: are you counting your carbs? just at a glance w/ the cheese, whey, banana, casein, broccoli and lettuce it seems like that would be a bit over 30 grams…
Broccoli, lettuce and flax seeds are mostly fiber, right? Casein barely has carbs. The cheese I buy, as well.

I do agree with you on the whey. The banana (large) has about 31g carbs, of which roughly 4 are fiber. I would say I am around 30g.

What do you reckon?

Nonetheless, I think I am going to boost my daily kcals by around 500-700. I already have an activity factor of 2 in my calculations because I do weights 5x + Krav Maga around 3-4x. However, it doesn’t seem to be enough!
Hey dude,

You seem to be way over the 30 gram carb mark.

200 grams brocolli has 8 grams carbs ( 2 servings a day = 16 grams), plus the banana and cheese, will put you too high.

Ditch the banana - its fast acting carbs, and add in 2 tsp’s olive oil into your protein shake.

I have 4 whey shakes a day (3 grams carbs each), and then 2 small veggie portions a day, and 2000 grams cheese. That puts me at 28 grams carbs a day. I always have olive oil in my protein shakes, you never really want to eat anything without fat in it!

Good luck - workout performance will pick up - stick with it!!!

You guys MUST try my pre-bed AD snack.

Take 45 grams chocolate flavor whey protein and add 3oz (100 grams) double thick cream. mix together and eat.

It tastes like chocolate fudge… it’s amazing! And it keeps you incredibly full. It’s the highlight of my daily eating plan.

480 calories, 35 grams fat, 38 grams protein, 5 grams carbs

Also, for me, I like to add in some fat from dairy - I cant eat meat endlessly. I eat meat with eggs in the morning, at lunch and at dinner with eggs again. In between, snacks are whey protein and olive oil ( mid morning, mid afternoon, after gym)… Then my chocolate/cream pudding… haha

It’s also very beneficial to add just 2 teaspoons of cream to what ever meat you are frying (just before you are ready to take it out of the frying pan). The cream causes the meat to suck up the fat from the frying pan (the animal fat, olive oil and/or butter), which is ideal for the AD diet.

ANy other good/simple meal suggestions?

Soldier - what does an Avo cost in Korea? I haven’t seen any around yet?

Two other great meal ideas:

1.) Low Carb Homemade Ice Cream Recipe …

Ingredients

5 egg yolks
15 drops liquid splenda (or 24 teaspoons granulated)
3 level teaspoons vanilla extract (sugarless of course)
280ml (10 ounces or 1 and 1/4 cup) heavy cream / double cream
1/2 pint of water
Instructions

Place your egg yolks, splenda, vanilla and water into a blender and blend. It will mix pretty easily by hand too.

In a separate bowl, whip up your cream until very thick.

Now fold the yolk mixture into the cream. Be careful not to break the fluffiness of the cream when folding in the mixture. Done!

Pour into a tub and throw it into your freezer. It will take 2-3 hours to freeze. If you didn?t maintain the fluffy texture when combining the cream and the yolk it is advisable to take it out after an hour or so and give it a little stir.

Bear in mind that it isn?t ?soft scoop?. You?ll need to leave your serving out for about 15 minutes or so before eating. But for homemade ice cream that?s low in carbs, it?s delicious!

If using liquid splenda there?ll be about 5 carbs in the whole thing and 0.5grams per serving. Granulated splenda will give you about 18 grams for the lot and 1.8 grams per serving

 1. Homemade protein bar …

?3 Ingredient Protein Bar? and it rules!!

It?s quick, simple and tastes great! Getting a quick blast of protein has never been easier or tastier for the natural bodybuilder.

Here?s your ingredients:

1 Natural Nut Butter of your choice ? I like hazelnut butter as it?s lowest in carbs
2 Heavy/Double Cream
3 Whey Protein ? The flavor of your choice.

Personally I think chocolate whey is great with this. The hazelnut and chocolate flavors go so well together.
Use chocolate whey and crunchy peanut butter for the snickers taste.
Also you can add a teaspoon or two of granulated splenda to sweeten it a little.

Instructions:

Put 50 grams of nut butter and 25 grams of whey protein into a bowl
Mix a little until dry and clumpy
Add 40ml of heavy cream. Now it magically smooths out quickly when mixed
Take out of bowl and shape into a bar
Enjoy it!

I take these with me if I?m going somewhere that won?t have healthy food option

** I copied these two recipes from another site…

Avocados are pricey usually around 5000, I am in good with the fruit and vegetable cart man on my street and he gives me 10 for 26,000. If you can find them cheap have at it great source of fat and fiber and I personally feel very energetic if i have one for breakfast. Also I have been buying what i think are organic eggs, on the box it has the O (for organic I hope) and says no antibiotics used, do you know if that means they are from free range chickens?

Two more months in Korea and its back to the states for me where the red meat is cheap, fatty, plenty, and I can understand everything on the food Im trying to buy.

Cool, I’ll find a nice avo supplier like you did! haha

The ‘O’ branded eggs are free range.

You can find some hazelnut butter if you search on naver or auction. My girlfriend is Korean, so she does the searching … haha

What do you guys think of sprint training - I’m thinking of adding in one days sprint training a week on Saturdays ( 5 days weights, 1 day sprints)

Anyway thx for sharing

Hey everyone…
I was talking with my friend in the gym today about this diet which i am also running… for now 2 months and with very good results!.. But anyway…

My friend told me that i was not allowed to drink more then 30g Isolated Whey after training…
And also just in general i am not allowed to drink more then 30g …
He said something about the Proteins will be used as energi and then i will be no more in ketosis… Well i search a little about it… And well i found there is a rule like then when youre on CKD diet which is pretty similar to this one…

However i am now confused… Am i not allowed to drink more then 30g fast absorbed proteins at once?
Edit : I forgot one thing more :)… He also said i was not allowed to take big amounts of glutamin because that would also be used as energi???..
