Just looking for some basic assistance with the anabolic diet - hope you can give me a hand here.
Qs:
I have recently lowered my calories in the hope to lose some % bf. I follow a macro breakdown of roughly ~ 50/50/0 P/F/C. This isn’t any diet in particular. After reading more into AD, I figured I’ll follow it as the macros are quite similar as well as for the added structure as opposed to me just freelancing.
I’ve been eating very lean meats (turkey breast, chicken breast, kangaroo breast) with my fats coming strictly from EVOO and macadamia and almonds. I’ve been incorporating weekly refeeds and my temp hasn’t seemed to drop yet (36.7C). Would it be okay to transition from here straight into the cutting phase of AD, without the initial maintenance phase?
I understand that the AD diet has been modified a several times to accommodate for your average person (Metabolic Diet), BB, PLs and so on. I understand that each has its own little tweaks. In relation to fat intake, what is the consensus in regards to the source of fat?
Will I be okay consuming the vast majority of my fat in the form of saturated fat in my red meats along with some EVOO and supplemental fish oil? Or would unsaturated fats in nuts and so on be crucial?
You won’t find a higher concentration of people who know their anabolic diet shit.
You can probably get away without the maintenance phase since you’re already on a no-carb diet. The whole point of the maintenance phase is to crash the body into Ketosis which, if you’ve really been following the posted macros, you’re already in.
As far as fat sources go, I mainly just eat my food and try to take in extra EVOO with chicken/fish and other lean meats. Nuts are good sources of fats too, but don’t fear saturated fat. If you can get a good source of grass-fed beef then you should fear saturated fat even less, because that’s the kind of saturated fat that is very healthy and grass-fed beef is even a good source of Omega-3’s. The good part of the Anabolic Diet, IMO, is that so long as you pay a little attention to your fats, you can eat anything. Take your fish oil (and FA3 if you take those, too), make sure you count those macros towards your total, and have fun.
In regards to the fat, can you just give me an idea of how your breakdown of various fats would look like? perhaps 50% Saturated/50% from other source such nuts, EVOO, fish oil?
