That is one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever read.
Those people have such little self worth it is fucking ridiculous. I’d rather die than voluntarily (no actually desire to!) have a limb cut off. The most ineresting part of the article was how they explained things like this become more widespread and popular. I had never considered that the physicians/researchers were the ones that really facilitated that kind of crap. But that absolutely makes sense. I wonder if there wouldn’t be any conditions if there weren’t doctors that made a living off of them.

That reminds me of the UK man who payed a doctor to amputate his penis. Disturbing comes to mind.
