American Military - We're Honored

Where has this thread gone!
All over the place, apparently.

This thread intended to thank our American Soldiers for their service and personal sacrifices to our country. Well, until the anti-american political zealots decided to hijack.

Ie: The end goal in all of this.

Stay on point, pard. This is the quote that precipitated the accusation of cowardice,

That’s a fairly simple, straightfoward confession of cowardice. His other statement that he would only fight for himself and his prosperity reinforce that confession. Funny thing is when you’re a coward about fighting for your country you’ll probably be a coward when it comes to fighting for your so-called prosperity. What a laughable and truly pathetic statement of principle, btw.

So what? You shout “cowardess” when it is a simple matter of not agreeing with the status quo. Is not wanting to die in war cowardess or reasonable? Depends on ones mental disposition–and I won’t comment on what disposition I think it requires.

What if he just doesn’t believe this is a country whose ideals are worth dying for…then it’s not cowardess…you have to make too many assumptions when you blame cowardess for a persons actions.

Cowardess is the last accusation of a bully.

You do a good line in sound bites - I’ll give you that. You miss the point though - the ‘heavier hand’ you talk of has been utilised in completely the wrong place. The terrorists may well want the US divided, and how they must have laughed their collective cocks off when you re-elected Bush - one man who would guarantee that their wishes in this regard were met.
I think you meant to say “shit their pants in fear”. He’s the one guy on the planet (next to Tony Blair) who is guaranteed to take the fight to the bad guys.

have to quickly add this before I head out:

Channel 4 news has just interviewed a US Security type bloke, (sorry - didn’t get the name but he’s obviously fairly high up). He has studied suicide bombers accross the globe, and says in 95% of occassions they have been motivated by secular, political motives, (as opposed to religious - so there goes the “oh they just want their 70 virgins in heaven” argument). He noted that Al Quaeda in particular is motivated not by religion, but by the presence of foreign forces on land they consider to be theirs - ie the Arabian peninsular.

In view of this, tell me exactly how you think invading Iraq will do anything other than incite more suicide bombers?
Hey dumb-ass. Do you think Al Quaeda reflects the views of the Iraqi or Afghan people? No. They were terrorists to their own people. Should whitey just completely pull out of all muslim nations? I think that is your opinion? What about muslims in western nations? Should we require them to leave? What happened to the great liberal view of one world where we all hug and kiss and act like good friends?

Do you even understand that you are arguing in favor of one of the most oppressive, brutal, violent, and intolerant forms of government. Fuck, you guys bitch about the supposed “Patriot Act” liberty violations, and in the same breath support Islamic fundamentalisim. Get your story straight.

They are not sacrificing for this country and this statement doesn’t make me “anti-American” it makes me realistic.

They are sacrificing because GW and his cronies falsely sent them to fight terrorism in Iraq which before we landed in Iraq didn’t have any terrorists…just an impotent madman.

This is true. These people need jobs. The problem is that the freakin’ nut jobs keep blowing up the lines of people waiting to get jobs. It’s not our fault that the middle east is full of stinking rich fools who make Bill Gates look like a minimum wage earner and the other 95% who are filthy poor and still live in the mideivel ages. These people need a reason to live, not a reason to die.

This is another one of those liberal Bill Clinton “what is the definition of “is”?” explanations.
pushharder wrote:
Your country is a “mythical cause”?
You DO realize that a country is nothing more than an arbitary geographic area over which a certain organization [government] claims a monopoly on violence?

The concept of “country” championed by patriots is not a tangible concept. It is a collectivist spook.

There are millions of individuals who reside within said geographic area and each of them have their own lives and their own opinions, apart from the rest.

The “country” itself is not a physical body; it is a multitude of independent bodies. And there isn’t a single ONE of those bodies who can speak for the rest.

I do realize that there are other responses which need to be addressed and I will get to them soon.

Your psuedo-intellectual tap dancing does nothing to diminish your cowardice. You are still the same guy who said, “… Furthermore, if the U.S. were ever actually threatened by another country, it would be a simple matter to move to Europe, or Canada, or certain parts of Asia, or Scandinavia…”.
I think it was pretty clear that his point was that the U.S. is not unique in the rights that it?s people have. This is not an attack on the U.S. nor an attempt to diminish the value of these rights. It is true, however, that much of Europe has the great fortune to enjoy the same rights.

On the other hand, your parading of that statement taken out of context as a basis to discredit him is pretty cowardly.

No WMDs in Saudi Arabia? Nah, just the ones that are intentionally overlooked so our jerkoff administration can get richer. You can’t argue with a brainwashed idiot I guess. Of course Iraq has WMDs, we all know it, we gave it to them way back when. We’ve caused all these problems for ourselves, we’ve been front running these little shithole countries for years and supplying whoever hated the communists with weapons. We know who has the weapons, we also know who pays us well. I’m not disagreeing with the fact that Saddam was a lunatic and a tyrant, yeah he was, but we’re completely ignoring a substantial faction of our enemy due to financial dependencies. OPEN YOUR FUCKING EYES. It’s all in front of you, you really just refuse to see it. There’s no point in arguing this anymore, brainwashed…bunch of fucking sheep

ok, due to your complete inability to argue or even discuss these matters without using playground insults I am going to duck out of this thread, as it is clearly futile to continue. I fully expect a hugely witty comeback from you like “good riddance ass-wipe”, and if I bother to check how I’ll laugh.

Stay safe.
