American Military - We're Honored

China Doll,
Thanks for the post.

For the cops, firefighters and other first responders on the sight, thanks for everything you all do. I have had the priveledge of working closely with the DC Fire/EMS and DC Metro PD for the last couple months and have met a great group of retired NY City firefighters. You guys are my heroes. There isn’t a Marine I serve with who wouldn’t say that.
Thank-you for the kind words about EMS!!

The state EMS departments in this country work closely with the military in Statewide and Federal disaster planning…that’s one more aspect of everyday support that the Military provides for the public, that the general public isn’t usually aware of- education, support, planning, implementing and evaluating of Disaster Response at the civilian first-response, community, city, state and federal levels. I’ve been lucky to have been involved in this, and have learned a lot from the military teachers of disaster response.

You guys truly rock!

Thanks Chinadoll for this thread, and Thank you TROOPERS for serving “Freedom”!

'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can’t take that away.

I’m proud to be an American
Where at least I know I’m free,
And I won’t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me,

And I gladly stand up next to you
And defend her still today,
'Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

You truly are a Moron.

I understand this post is late in correlation to when this thread was began but I was just sifting through the posts and decided to chime in.

First, I’d like to begin by stating that I agree with Chinadoll and support our troops 100%, they’re amazing, brave, men and women that I have nothing but love and respect for.

Now, after this box posted a negative remark regarding the administration and got flamed for it, when he said nothing negative regarding the troops. I agree with box entirely. Yes, you support the troops, but the administration is getting the troops killed. They’re not over there dying for our freedom now, they’re dying so the administration and their close affiliates can profit off this war.

Call him a ‘lefty’, or call me it, I could really care less what your opinion is to be quite honest. You’re stupid - I’m not left, right, red, blue; I’m a fucking American, not a democrat, not a conservative, an American. How much of a dolt do you have to be to reference somebody based on their constant political standpoint rather than their INDIVIDUAL views?

Almost all the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi Arabian, so if what the administration is doing is right, why did we invade Afghanistan/Iraq? Why didn’t we invade the Saudis? Oh yeah I forgot! Saudis=oil=money
So our men and women serving in the military, whom you all respect, die so a small fraction fo the administration can get wealthier, but you bash people for disagreeing with the adminstration?

It makes me wonder if people are brainwashed or born so ignorant. I’ve read so many posts not only on this thread but just the political forms in general, and I see it so much. The idiots that never question, that never think for themselves, that give their minds over to the administration, because that’s their political party. If that’s you, and you know who you are; you’re a moron.

You let them send our troops to die for profits, you let them piss on our civil rights, where does it end? Where do we stand up and start thinking again, the founding fathers warned of this time and time again, but what do I know, I’m not a conservative! I’m a communist, terrorist, oh whatever come up with another dumbass word to call me, make it creative. I love my nation, I love the troops, I hate the jerkoffs that are deterring this great land from what we started out to be.

WAIT WHAT?!

Several business operations managed by Prescott Bush ? the president?s grandfather - were seized by the US government during World War II under the Trading with the Enemy Act.

On October 20, 1942, the federal government seized the Union Banking Corporation in New York City as a front operation for the Nazis. Prescott Bush was a director. Bush, E. Roland Harriman, two Bush associates, and three Nazi executives owned the bank?s shares. Eight days later, the Roosevelt administration seized two other corporations managed by Prescott Bush.

The Holland-American Trading Corporation and the Seamless Steel Equipment Corporation, both managed by the Bush-Harriman bank, were accused by the US federal government of being front organizations for Hitler?s Third Reich. Again, on November 8, 1942, the federal government seized Nazi-controlled assets of Silesian-American Corporation, another Bush-Harriman company doing business with Hitler.

Why don’t you come right out and call us all baby-killers. You can go out to your local airport and spit on service people. That state sanctioned murder line was played out by 1975. Your parents are embarrassed by the way they protested the Vietnam war and the way they treated soldiers returning to the United States. They would be embarrassed by you right now.
This has nothing to do with Vietnam. I don’t take a moralistic stance towards war at all. If soldiers kill babies, I wouldn’t cry over it. I am merely pointing out the facts about their profession. I really don’t see how anyone could find “honor” in their actions unless they were clinging to some major misconceptions. Speaking of which…
BH6 wrote:
And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives… Because deep down, in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.
Umm, no, thank you very much. Believe it or not, I don’t “need you” stationed in various places around the world that have never threatened this country and never will. The only thing you accomplish is the breeding of resentment. Furthermore, if the U.S. were ever actually threatened by another country, it would be a simple matter to move to Europe, or Canada, or certain parts of Asia, or Scandinavia, and enjoy all of the same “freedom” that I have here.

Try as you might, you’re not going to convince me that soldiers act selflessly. This is a philosophical point which, should you choose to debate with me, you will find yourself in way over your head. Every person acts in what he percieves as his own best interest, to minimize his discomfort and maximize his pleasure. There is no such thing as altruism or selflessness. There are plenty of people who derive existential fulfillment from “giving” to others and would commit suicide or go insane if they were unable to do so.
rainjack wrote:
They protect the right for you to say crap like this.
You do realize that this is a highly metaphorical statement which relies on a pyramid of hidden assumptions and platitudes in order to have meaning – yes? In EMPIRICAL REALITY, nobody is directly threatening my right to write what I just did. No other nation has threatened the U.S. and very few have the military capacity to do so.

They’re not “protecting my rights” by invading Panama, Serbia, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. This concept is a joke. What they’re doing is carrying out the orders of the special interest groups for whom all wars are waged.
rainjack wrote:I love the way you make up numbers. You wouldn’t happen to work for the CBO, would you?

I would ask for proof of your charges, but it would be an exercisein futility. You have your mind made up that they are criminals.

I’m not making anything up. There are troops stationed in nearly 150 countries around the world. How many of those countries have threatened the U.S. in the past century? How many have attacked us? You can count the number with 3 fingers of one hand. And when you eliminate those hostile regimes that weren’t directly spawned by U.S. policy (Germany, Iran, Iraq, & countless others) or provoked into attacking us (Japan), that number is reduced to 0.

I try responding without flaming or name-calling.

I serve in the military because I love this nation. It has given me more than I deserve. I joined to give something back. If I have to give my life to fulfill my military duty, so be it.

War for natural resources is legitimate.
War to remove evil people from power is legitimate.
War to free enslaved people is legitimate.

I don’t pretend to know everything about politics and international wheeling-and-dealing. It’s complicated beyond comprehension.

Facts:

Saddam is an evil man.
Saddam bombed his own people with WMD’s (as well as thousands of other atrocities).
Iraq at one point had a large stockpile of WMD’s.
Iraq invaded Kuwait.
We invaded Kuwait and kicked Iraq out.
The war never ended. There was a cease-fire pending Iraqi compliance with UN sanctions.
Iraq did not comply.
The UN refused to do anything to enforce it’s own sanctions.
Iraq supported international terrorism.

Yes, most of the hijackers were from Saudi. However, Saudi is none of the above. Saudi wasn’t shooting at American airplanes. Saudi has no military to speak of and was not a threat to it’s neighbors. Iraq was a threat to international peace.

People bitch about high oil/gas prices then have the nerve to say war for oil is wrong. Western society runs on oil. Face it, we need it every day in large quanties. Even Birkenstocks and electric cars are made in factories that run on oil.

You say you support the troops, yet hate the mission. We’re all volunteers. Anyone who volunteered since 9/11 volunteered to go to Iraq. How can you support those who willingly go off to war for something you are against?

We are a nation born out of warfare. Our national anthem is about a battle. Our first president was our first great General. We are a nation of fighters. There is no other nation that has sacrificed so many of it’s soldiers to protect, not conquer, other nations.

War is horrible and should be avoided, but someone has to be willing to step up when everyone else cowers.

If you believe the conspiracy theories against the President, you have to believe he is an evil man. Not just a bad person or stupid. You have to believe he is evil. Do you believe he is evil? You would also have to believe everyone else involved in planning the war is evil.

Our troops are in Iraq now fighting for the freedom of Iraq as much as they are keeping the bad guys away from our own soil. Many people have a very hard time understanding this mentality of service beyond national security. I have yet to speak with anyone who has been there who said it’s all about oil.

All they talk about is how much the Iraqi’s appreciate us being there. Why isn’t this a big deal in the press? Good news doesn’t sell. Why don’t we see more cooperation from the Iraqi people? Because the terrorists will freakin’ kill them. Happens all the time.

This will take time. This is not a 30 minute TV show. God help us if we loose. I suggest you quit trying so hard to be a skeptic.

For as much as you claim:

“I’m not left, right, red, blue; I’m a fucking American, not a democrat, not a conservative, an American. How much of a dolt do you have to be to reference somebody based on their constant political standpoint rather than their INDIVIDUAL views?”

you sure do express the sentiment of the left. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck…it’s probably a duck. I have yet to see anyone make this claim (and there are many) without following up with liberal propaganda. Maybe you need to follow your own advice and start thinking for yourself.

Man up and give it try. Write back to us in a year and let us all know how that works out for you. Other than that, I don’t have much else to say to you. I’ve never understood civilians like you and I probably never will. Good luck, stay safe, have a good workout today.
