Every one here has he ability to google international facts and post them as relevent original knowledge about one country or another, that doesnt take intelligence. Intelligence is knowing not to bite into bullshit. There are a couple universal truths:
Politicians from every country are corrupt
The number one military superpower will be feared, and hence hated by many, no matter who it is
Money makes the world go round not common sense
Everyone wants oil
Religion and racism kill more people every year than cigarettes and car accidents, yet cigarette companies get taxed and sued and churches, mosques and temples are given donations by the millions each year.
Canada sucks
Internet forums on the subject of debate and not information exchange are pointless.
Jessica Alba is the sexiest woman alive.
Lixy is a very angry little dude
Pedophilia should only be treated with execution
The US is #1
Of all these facts I stated only one is arguable, so choose wisely

You’re wrong. FOOT-BALL. Look at the word. You kick the ball with your foot.
What you call football should be named “Pick up the ball and carry it around untill you drop it”. I know, that’s a bit long. Still no reason to call it football though.

It’s still football.I’m afraid the rest of the world and ultimately ,common sense, prove this.

Guys, in Holland we still have not forgotten the Americans, Brits and Canadians, the Polish and the French, Australians and those in the resistance who coöperated to liberate us from the Germans sixty-two years ago. These heroes I’d like to tell: “thank you for my liberty, for which your fought and died for” I’ll never forget this !
Thank YOU.

…guess you don’t have an answer do you? Let’s bring this in perspective, shall we? The Mayflower sailed from Leiden where the founding fathers spent a year preparing for the voyage in the comfort of religious freedom that brought them to Holland in the first place. Without this generousity the US would not exist. So it’s proper that you pay your respects to me for this, in spite of the fact that i’ve sacrificed nothing, just like YOU…

Actually, you should thank someone from the former Soviet Union, if you want to be fair. They (the USSR) did far more to defeat Nazi Germany than the US, Britain and their allies ever dreamed of doing.
Now, if you want to thank the US for folks not speaking Japanese, I’ll give you that one.

You guys (association football fans) make me laugh. You have the world sport, the most popular sport in the world, yet you worry about what fans of a minority sport like rugby union or American football call it. Why? What do you care?

I asked the same thing, you won`t get an answer.
It does not matter either because if you disagree with their current government (like 70% of the American people) you are either jealous of and/or hate their freedoms.
So far I have concluded that some of them have more internet balls than brains but this is still part of my ongoing researches…

Your wrong. You won’t get an answer because your an elitist fuck and have no idea what really happens with in our borders but you think you do. You speak with an assumed authority you think you have, but you do not. You want to believe that you are better, but your are not. In essence even if you were to ask a ligit question, you are not worth answering.

I think what rubs people up the wrong way with regards to this one, is that cuturally Americans are very individualistic and opinionated, and generally like to draw attention to themselves more than most. It’s the having a stong opinion, even if it is ignorant and arrogant, and shouting it from the roof tops, so to speak, that gets people.
Nah. Opinions don’t get people riled up enough to throw eggs at US embassies and burn American flags because of some “strong opinion”.
Here’s what might:
Overthrowing democratically elected government.
Backing up dictatorships (that includes installing, financing, arming, etc…)
Not abiding by international law and blatant double-standards.
Vetoing every UN resolution critical of the state of Israel.
The general indifference of the average American to the foreign policy of his/her government (though it’s changing slowly but surely).
Having a strong opinion is no sin. Dropping bombs on innocent people’s heads is.
International law? Who exactly is the ruler of the world that we have to answer to? No one, exactly. The UN is irrelevent at best. It should be dissolved. Actually if your terrorist buddies want to actually do some good, they could suicide bomb the UN. At lest get ti the fuck out of our borders.
Which democratically elected government did we overthrow? The taliban? Or Saddam? Yea, we over threw them, but no they weren’t democratically elected. But yes, I wish saddam were still in power.
You don’t know the average American and you don’t know our country, so don’t pretend like you do, your just a very small, arrogant, jihadist know it all who comes here to stir shit so we can’t actually have a decent conversation and a meeting of the minds.
You should go back to your own country instead of hiding behind Sweden and the protection it affords you. Go live with the terrorists you like so much. Why did you move from Morocco anyway? You should be safe, you muslim brothers wouldn’t hurt another muslim, would they? Would they?

Is he an elitist fuck too?
Is everyone that is challenging your retarted insinuations?

It’s not about “answering to anyone”. It’s about coexisting with others peacefully. More often than not, that includes listening to them and working out compromises.
The UN is the best we’ve got so far. Dissolving wouldn’t do much good. However, getting rid of vetoes is something I would strongly encourage.

Just got back from a fantastic trip to Florence, where I stayed in a backpacker hostel with a lot of different nationalities. The majority was probably USA, Canada and Australian,
Anyway, it got a bit tiresome on how conversations would always turn to American politics, the war, Bush bashing etc. It would tend to be the Americans feeling kind of obliged to apologize for it all and feeling somewhat ashamed, and I guess embarrassed.
I actually feel sorry for a lot of the Americans packing around Europe cos they must get this shit on a daily basis…hearing how bad their country is from just about everyone they ever meet. Usually from the Canadians, of course, and often rather smug Europeans.
Some of the US guys would actually lie and say they were from Canada because it was less hassle. One girl said she hung a Canadian flag from her backpack when she was in Israel due to the shit it would cause as if people knew she was from the US.
Anyway, not sure what my point is. I liked a lot of the US guys and gals i met, and have been guilty of America bashing myself. I guess after seeing and hearing all the bashing for the last week i’m kind of over it.
How come WE’RE not supposed to blame Muslims for the actions of a few, yet people all over the world can rip us for the actions of our government? How much control do THEY have over their respective governments?
One reason I don’t go out of the country anymore is because I’d be likely to punch one of these arrogant foreign fuck-faces in the goddamn throat…
Chushin wrote: Wow, you should really try to calm down. People will think you hate the US or something.
Oh, my grandad died in Europe during WWII. I’ve always thought of that as something that I kind of sacrified. Maybe you don’t, but that’s ok.

…you’ll be glad to know i’m dispassionate about this, i simply asked a question in respons to a post to which i have not yet received an answer. The OP noticed a trend that’s caused by a different state of mind. Altough you and i are supposed to live in a 1st world country, in a western society that shares many similarities, somehow there’s such a divide between us that it’s very hard to reach common ground…
…my question was, not only, an attempt to understand what exactly is the mindset of those who feel like you do [altough that should be clear by now], but also a vain attempt at showing that the reasons you give, and other posters gave [aside from levity] aren’t perhaps the real reasons why america bashing happpens…

Well a lot of things ephrem. Chief among them is economic opportunity. In the US, it is entirely possible to come here, work hard, develop a better idea or concept and sell it. No matter where you live in the world. If you have what it takes chances are you want to be in the US taking a shot at it. We don’t care where your born, what school you went to, if your a social democrat or not or what tribe or clan you belong to.
If you had a great idea that would revolutionize an industry and needed financing to implement your plan would you go to Holland or the US?
Western Europe has been open to letting immigrants in but not really assimilating them. It’s coming back to haunt them now. You have provided them a guaranteed outcome (social welfare) we provide freedom of opportunity. It’s been that way for 200+ yrs. It’s a new concept for Europe and it may or may not work out.
A large part of the world sends their best and brightest to the US for higher education. Look at the top 25 or 50 universities in the world. Guess who has the most. How about major innovations? Technological change? Research? Medicine? Many of our leading folks in this field come from somewhere else to ply their trade. We also have a lot of homegrown folks too.
I don’t take the America bashers too seriously. Most are miserable fucks who will always be miserable about something. America is just the latest obsession.
As to the OP’s observation. Who knows what kids think while hiking. I don’t talk about politics when I’m on vacation. If people don’t like me for who I am…to be honest they can go fuck themselves. I really don’t care. After they get to know me, if they still don’t like me, I probably will not give a fuck about that either.
I think that’s what drives the America bashers over the edge. The realization that Americans really don’t pay them any mind. Especially the one’s on T-Nation.

That drives noone over the edge.
Ignoring the world while bombing it is only just about the most stupid thing one can too.
Let us see how many 9-11 it takes until that fact sinks to the bottom of the intellectual food chain.
