Dude, you are in high school. Potentially getting a shitty grade on one paper isn’t going to make or break you. If you feel strongly on the subject, by all means, have at 'er. Who knows, if you provide some well thought-out arguments and maybe ease up on the hate, you might end up with a good mark anyways.

There’s a time and a place for well researched and if necessary controversial papers. Other times it’s just another essay to get written in order to show you have mastered a concept well enough to write a formatted paper about the subject. Trying to be different or adversarial even though your concept could be factual but abrasive to the popular opinion is kind of futile.
Defend your research and thesis type papers if and when they come. It’s just not productive to do so with the inevitable papers semester after semester that just check the blocks in a teacher’s gradebook.

Now imagine if he was grading your paper. You’d lose points for structure, content, grammar, every misplacced footnote, misspelling, font size, margin etc. Instructors can give lots of leeway or nitpick ad libitum and you’ll never know. Not to mention if you find yourself on the cusp of a grade the instructor will tend to knock you down rather than raise you up if they found you to be undesireable.

When I was a senior in HS I wrote a paper arguing why ugly fat people should be systematically exterminated. That was almost 20 years ago, but I made arguments about how they pollute the gene pool of the population, how by employing flensers (a job where one strips the blubber off of whales) would increase GDP, etc…
I got an A-… with the comment, “well written, but disturbing”.
There was a fat chick that sat in front of me, and when she started to get upset, I told her, “but you’re not UGLY”… LOL
I guess I started early…
For the record, I have since changed my opinion. The assignment was to write about a controversial topic.

Maybe… but seeing how this is High School, I am willing to bet the teacher doesn’t care enough about this guy to go out of his/her way to downgrade him. Most teachers aren’t like that.

Fat people people put a strain on health care honestly why should we tolerate someone with a health problem who knowingly makes themselves sicker.
