The left is portrayed as crazier because outlets like Fox news need their boogeymen for ratings and politicians need to fear monger. It’s easier to get people to vote against something than vote for something. How many votes for Trump were actually votes against Hillary? And yes, it goes both ways.
I know plenty of people who vote Dem. People who are liberal. People who lean left. None of them resemble what you see on alt-right news outlets, Fox or Twitter. They are too busy working, raising families and having lives that don’t revolve around identity politics or politics in general.
When I see a Trump rally I don’t see a bunch of republicans or conservatives. I see a bunch of people with nothing better to do. People who should be spending their time working on their own lives. People who are afraid to face the reality that they are in control of their success just as much as they are in control of their failures. But it’s easier to blame someone else for your failings in life and look to some demagogue/salesman as a savior. It’s amazing how much people talk about how they want to be in control, it is a democracy after all, yet are so willing and happy to give away control. I guess we like to always have someone we can blame for our own poor decisions. And yes, it it happens on both sides.

When l say perspective, l mean that 240 murders in a 25 year period out of 450,000 total murders is a relatively tiny portion of the total. That is the first 1/2 of my post.

I would wholeheartedly admit there’s a stigma around members of the right being more violent in nature (a perspective I think is wrong, fwiw), but I think a LOT of that stems from the keyboard warrior generation of the right in which they brag about how happy they’d be to actually storm Washington with guns in hand.

I don’t think those people ever voted, they probably can no longer vote anyway, and probably don’t have much interest in politics. I know the idea out there is that you have a bunch of excons who can’t vote but if they get that right back, they will mostly vote for democrats. I believe they think this way because of how many of them are minorities. The thing is, I don’t think there is a connection between how they vote and them being felons.
If one wants to go through the dubious (at best) exercise of 1) defining murders as a reflection of where those murderers somehow fit on the Political spectrum AND 2) then define one end of that spectrum as being more murderous than the other…
IF that is what they wish to do…then they sure as hell better 1) look at statistically significant numbers; and most importantly 2) look at a history of the United States that goes back further than the 90’s.
Otherwise they are involved in anything but “putting things in perspective”.

Doubtful. And the Parties are probably closer to one another now than ever. There has to be a show to keep it interesting. When the final result is definitely purple and can’t be orange or green, you have to make a big deal out of whether you put in the blue or red first.
