A guide to men’s clothing.

That book looks great. Thanks, I’m just about to order a copy. It’s really, really rare to see a man nowadays who really knows how to dress. Since The Second World War the only men who know how to dress are the English aristocracy and those who imitate them. Chiefly the New England upper classes in the United States.

The book looks good, but before you shell out for it, have a look at this article. Covers the basics very nicely and concisely.

https://www.lewrockwell.com/2003/07/jeffrey-tucker/dress-like-a-man/
Kew Rockwell? If it covers the basics then I don’t need it because I already know them. Skimmed over it a bit and it says:

“On shoes, there are only two brands that qualify as quality shoes: Allen Edmonds and Alden. All others are junk.”

Say what? All shoes in the world are “junk” except for Allen Edmonds and Alden? Kay…

Alphas don’t need direction on their wardrobe.

I didn’t know you had to be so fancy to pick up girls who work for minimum wage.

Funny guy. I actually dressed down and played my man of mystery routine where I dodge questions about what I actually do with myself to intrigue them. It also forces them to qualify themselves to you. Don’t tell them what you do for a living, where you live or anything like that. Gets too weird after the second or third date so then you move on to Frisco shuffle and exchange her for a new model. I’m going to try my luck at a couple of classy joints tomorrow night where all the rich city kids go to drink around Martin Place. You get secretaries and shop assistance there too but it’s easy to tell the classy dames.

I find the psychology of it all fascinating. Women really are just immediately drawn to the leader of the pack. And they’re all so foolish and gullible that they can be tricked into thinking just about anything. At least for a while. It gets hard to string them along sometimes but most the time you’re glad to get rid of them and get a new one. When I was young and stupid I thought I’d find a woman I actually wanted to marry and live with at university. But when I met all these “smart” women I realised that they’re unicorns. The smartest woman I’ve known was my mother. Her IQ was around 140. My maternal grandmother’s IQ was around 160 apparently. You just do not find a stable, sexually attractive woman with high intelligence. They just do not exist. But now I’ve come to thank my lucky stars because it makes it so much easier to get their panties off.

Where did I actually claim to be an alpha? All I said was I feel confident that I am at a higher tier than the average guy on the street in thongs and dirty Adidas trackies. I was kind of under the impression that this was an elite forum community. A good place to get tips on fashion maybe from guys with good taste. And I have had a couple of good responses. But mostly dingbats who think my satirical swaggering is serious. No I don’t fuck bitches all day and I’m not a pick up master. But I suppose I am overly interested in and concerned with sex. Nothing weird though.

Any of you guys got some good routines BTW? I want to try something new next time. Maybe I could get a really daft one to suspect I’m a secret agent or something. Maybe I could wear a black suit and sun glasses and keep whispering into my wrist. Just for laughs.

That guy’s clothes fit him well but he doesn’t understand the basic rules. You don’t wear a white t-shirt under a black/navy sweater and fawn coloured trousers don’t go with a black/navy sweater either. When I wear fawn trousers/slacks/chinos I wear a white shirt alone or a sweater of a compatible colour such as mustard or light brown. These rules are actually set in stone and have been for a long time. Others are never wear brown shoes in a navy, grey or black suit. Never wear long sleeves or anything with a collar when you’re wearing shorts. Most of it is really just common sense if you have good taste.
You can absolutely wear brown shoes with a grey suit.

And you’re giving advice after sharing your entirely blue, head to toe get-up, including blue cargo pants and blue toms (wut?), with your purdy Rolex. Funny.
Okay, I’ll just ignore the second part. The attached picture explains it. You can get away with brown shoes and light grey but I wouldn’t do it. This article is actually pretty good:

I can’t really hang around to respond to any more questions. You fellas will just have to find something to do with yourselves till I return. Maybe go workout?
Sorry, man. You’ve lost all credibility with this one. Brown shoes go with every suit except black. Including navy. Including Grey. Including dark grey (maybe not the really dark charcoal grey that looks black).
This is one of the Euro/American disconnects. IF you are in Europe the rules on brown shoes with business colors (Navy, Black, Grey) are much stricter. America is basically relaxed to only black being off limits. Now depending on the formality, black is safer everywhere. Now with my blue or navy suit (not midnight navy) I actually prefer burgundy leathers to black but that’s just me.

Finally, SM violated one of my biggest personal rules. Don’t wear shades of the same color. You end up with a weird monochrome look that I personally cant stand. Also, don’t mix navy and black clothing.

This is me working out at the gym today in my fly lime green suit with my fur coat and 5 lbs, solid gold dollar sign medallion. I’d say I’m looking pretty fucking awesome.

Almost forgot, blazers are fine with jeans as long as the blazer is textured or cotton. Basically a making it a more sportcoat and not a blazer.

And about the pics… Would men please for the love of all that is holy stop rolling their pants to show the ankle.

SM - maybe you could give me some advice on dressing properly - My cowboy boots are all black or brown - I have shiny black for church and not so shiny black for every day and riding my motorcycle. I also have a nice pair of tan- (or they could be fawn, I’m not sure how to tell the difference) I also have some older sort of beat up but comfortable pairs in darker brown - (not fawn) and black. My question Sir, is this - How would I match these boots with my jeans? I have a choice between blue jeans or black, some are faded, so should I pair these with the older boots? What about the tan boots? Is it OK to pair these with black jeans or blue jeans? I don’t own any tan or fawn jeans, I don’t think Levi or Wrangler makes them. Maybe I would be better off just wearing a pair of Chucks, what do you think? Thanks for your help Sir.

When did I wear shades of the same colour? When did I wear navy with black? Apart from black shoes with navy which is the only colour I would ever wear with a navy suit. Same with a navy blazer and grey slacks; always with black shoes. This rule is still followed today but old guys you see at the RSL clubs and so on. They’d never wear anything other than black shoes with a navy suit or blazer. They’re about the only people left who still dress properly here.

Anyway, you can wear shades of the same colour if they’re earthy or pastel or really any palate that doesn’t include any solid, bright / primary colours. Obviously certain shades of the same colour can clash but many also work well together and create a greater effect than the sum of the parts. Most tartan patterns have different shades of the same colour that go well together because they’re earthy not bright.

There aren’t any rules for jeans because a well dressed man would never wear jeans. Jeans are a recent invention from Germany. They were originally industrial working clothes for factory workers. It wasn’t until the late 1950’s in America that people started wearing them at all and that was only teenagers. James Dean helped popularise them. That’s part of the reason it’s ridiculous to wear jeans with any blazer or sportscoat. Just because some modern fashionistas say it don’t make it so. And you are correct about the European difference with shoe / suit pairings.

That’s sporting attire specific to each game. You don’t wear anything with a collar when you’re wearing shorts off the sporting field. And you don’t wear sporting clothes when you’re not playing sports.

 1. Now this one will make me sound like a narcissist but it’s true: I am superior to most other men. I consider myself kind of a self made aristocrat. I’m smarter than other guys; more mentally tough; have more balls etc. I have better taste; more knowledge etc. I naturally dress better because basically I am better. Okay, yes and I’m a narcissist. But if you don’t like yourself and believe yourself to be superior then other people(especially women) will not see you as a high value man.

Besides the standard white tank-top, does anyone have any suggestions on what pair with some high-quality jeans shorts?

That’s a fine selection. Remarkable finish, and the simple complexity of the mesh blends quite well.

Other than the standard football jerseys, is there any other sports jersey couplings that are appropriate?
